  1. I suppose that is true to a certain extent. That said, your choice of tunes would not get a full dance floor at the venues I go to. But hey ho... there are plenty out there that would lap up your plays with gusto. Good luck to you!
  2. And it was overplayed years before Bob started playing it. Sick to death of hearing it. Awful record.
  3. Yes an easy one. Over to you Sir Kenneth
  4. Only joking! Who is this? Born 30th August 1929 in Bessemer, Alabama.
  5. Ok. What was the first record I ever bought?
  6. Jeez, I didn't realise that! Second note to self - don't try to be a clever clogs
  7. Oh dear. Note to self, don't try to be funny. You sure you don't mean Earl Cosby? If you do it's Ooh Honey Baby.
  8. What 'non soul' site did you see this on Gene?
  9. I'm with Stevie, I definitely won't be going to KGH, rare room or no rare room. Just pray there is no chance of your nightmare scenario coming true Phil
  10. Am I the only one who thinks this is an average record?
  11. I have never been to any events outside the UK, any chance you could post up your playlist please? Would be interesting to find out what fills the floor where you are.
  12. Images added to a gallery album owned by Jumpinjoan in Albums 2009
  13. Absolutely! I can't believe anyone would give a fig about one bloody record!! Some people need to get a life.
  14. At the end of the day it doesn't even take 3 minutes out of the whole night so surely no harm done? If you are unable to put up with that then boy do you need to give your head a shake. Plus everybody needs to go to the loo some time during the night
  15. I think it is a great tune too. And one I can dance to very easily. Absolutely nothing wrong with playing the odd tune like this, but to play one after the other would kill it for me. But that's just my opinion.
  16. Oh, I've saved a space for you Kev... you are to stand right next to me... facing them there guns
  17. Don't be soft... it's no fun when you're not here. Right guys he's back - let him have it!
  18. It doesn't bother me what time they get played. But if they were played one after the other, before or after the 4am watershed, I would be longing for a hot bath and a sharp knife I have plenty of mid tempo tunes in my collection but I wouldn't dream of playing them out at a venue. Apart from maybe at the end of my spot. There is no getting away from the fact that uptempo tunes do generate more of an atmosphere at a venue than down tempo ones. Shall I go and stand next to Kev in front of the firing squad?
  19. First of all, 10/10 for bravery That said, I am still confused as to what you mean by 'not dance tunes'. Surely, by 'not dance tunes' you mean tunes that you cannot dance to as opposed to tunes that you choose not to dance to. I can't speak for the other tunes on your list but I can most certainly dance to Emmitt Long.
  20. Just wait till you hear the record! The Lovers is my favourite too but much prefer the demo. You can tell just by looking at it that it is going to kick some serious soul butt!
  21. Any chance you could give examples of the tunes you are talking about please? I have always been confused as to what mid tempo and below mid tempo is.
  22. Surely you aren't saying you are one of these young collectors? 36 is a fair age. As it happens you are not that much younger than me.
  23. Hmmm, that might be true if the people you were talking about were in their 20s. But the majority are not. They are old. Also, without DJ's bringing something new and different to the table the scene is dead in the water anyway.
  24. I understand there are people out there who crave the limelight and want to DJ. But, and I don't mean any disrespect when I say this, are they bringing anything new or different to the table? Because let's face it, there are a whole glut of DJ's already out there and some of them do a damn good job. That said, there are those who are not good at all and do we really need any more of those?
