The Holy Grail Of Northern Soul
If someone can spend thousands of pounds (or Dollars) on one single, then I'm sure they won't mind spending another $5 on postage. Within 12 hours, from when I first saw it, it's gone from $300 to $2,392.00 where will it end? Since this morning, I've found a sample of it on a Scenesville tape I got. To be honest I think the track is OK, but not the Holy Grail. Still this scene would be ever so boring, if we all had the same tastes and views.

The Holy Grail Of Northern Soul
Should've added that Dave Flynn reviewed it in a fanzine (Shades of Soul ?), of which a copy can be found at Anorak's Corner. Dave said he thought it was priceless, so it will be interesting to see what it goes for.

That's what the seller says, but I'm not so sure. I bet it won't be long before I stand corrected! Soul Incorporated

I can see a triangle followed by the number 68191. I think I need a new coat now, preferably one with a hood! ;-)

Ray Charles. RIP
Just seen on BT homepage that Ray Charles has passed away. Another Legend leaves us. Thursday June 10, 09:18 PM Music icon Ray Charles dies Click to enlarge photo LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Ray Charles, who overcame childhood poverty, blindness and heroin addiction to help create soul music and become one of America's most beloved singers, has died at the age of 73 after a long fight with liver disease, his spokesman says. Charles died at 11:35 a.m. on Thursday at his Beverly Hills home, the singer's longtime publicist Jerry Digney said. Family members and co-workers of the legendary entertainer were with him when he died. In one of his last public appearances, the singer-songwriter turned up in a motorised wheelchair for a ceremony in April conferring historic-building status on his longtime recording complex in a rundown part of Los Angeles. Visibly frail, his voice reduced to a whisper, Charles' demeanour then was a far cry from the wildly enthusiastic performer known to millions of fans for more than half a century. A prolific musician, Charles has been off the road for almost a year so that he could undergo a hip replacement. Unspecified complications forced him to scrap plans to resume touring with a performance in New York last month. Charles, a pioneer of soul music whose biggest hits include "Georgia on My Mind" and "Hit the Road Jack", was a multiple Grammy winner who had been blind since the age of 6. While known as "The Genius of Soul", Charles' music included standards, R&B, country pop and jazz.

Barbara Randolph - I Got A Feeling
I bought a copy of this last year on SOUL label, all the credits are in silver writing. I've just seen a copy for sale on Ebay with the credits in black writing, the seller remarks that his is "original and that there a lot of bootlegs out there". If this is correct, does that mean that mine in silver writing is a bootleg?? Any info would be appreciated. I'm beginning to sound like an anorak, pass us your coat Gene. ;-)

Have an opinion
Where's Gene when you need him? LOL ;-) Allnighters - Soul nights? Either Live acts - Dance comps? Live acts if they're up to the standards set by the late, great Mr Edwin Starr Footy - Soul ? Either Oldies - newies ? Both 60s - 70s ? Either as long as they're quality Scooters - Cars? At the moment car, but if anyone has a Lambretta or Vespa they don't want? Talc - Polished floor? Doesn't matter, I still can't dance! Night out at cinema with missus/fella - Night of cheap bootlegs? Night of cheap bootlegs, for 2 reasons. 1. My missus wouldn't stop asking questions about the film. 2. The Do I'm planning relies on my cheap bootlegs (cough, cough, & my CD's cough, cough. No one noticed did they?);-) Lager - Bitter? Bitter, especially John Smiths Stompers - Soulful mid-tempo? Soulful mid-tempo These questions need to be asked. Well I've answered them, did I pass???

More Ebay Scams
I can understand people getting hacked off with these reissues/boots, if like a lot of the people on here they spend hundreds (possibly thousands) of pounds on the originals. Unfortunately I have to admit that for somebody with very little spare cash, like myself. It's probably the only way I'd ever own them on 7" vinyl, unless of course I win the lottery. Although saying that I'd still only pay £6 for them off somebody like Roger Stewart's Boogaloo Records. I'd also like to say that recently I have not been buying so many, due to suggestions given to me on this forum, for cheap originals.

Can't believe the sellers now got an original up on Ebay for £50, after selling a reissue for £48. Original Copy For Sale

More Ebay Scams
They've put the following on the description: RELEASED ON US ARGO LABEL - UNDER THE LICENCE OF CHESS RECORDS I understand that Argo was part of the Chess Group, but I doubt these are genuine releases. Mind you, I could be wrong. What amazes me is that someone has already bid £14.99 for it. Then again I sold a similar reissue copy of Eddie Parker's, I'm Gone b/w Love You Baby on Ashford to a chap from....Detroit, for a tenner!

Joy Lovejoy - In Orbit - reissue on Ebay! Can you believe that someone has bid/paid £47.99 for this re-issue that you could pay £6 for off dealers like Roger Stewart's Boogaloo Records. Mikey, hopefully I'll bump into you there (CSC).

Gene, would that be "The Bootleg Beatles"? Gene, are you going to CSC on F riday? Gotta go, my son wants to look at The Tweenies on the computer!

Joy Lovejoy - In Orbit No Mention of the fact that it's a recent re-issue with Doug Banks on the other side.

The Showmen - Take It Baby
The Showmen - Take It Baby b/w In Paradise What was the original label this was released on? Was it BB or Swan? It's just that a mate and I bought copies on the BB label years ago for about £2, and ever since we haven't been sure if they're boots, re-issues or whatever. Any info would be appreciated. There's a small label scan of my copy, on my own out of date site at: Super Corsa's World

Kim Weston - I'm Still Loving You
John Manship's got one (promo copy) up for auction. Starting at £51 probably go way above my spending limit! Suppose, I'll just have to bide my time.

UUUMMMMMMMM??????
I liked that track by Spearmint, Sweeping The Nation. I used to hear it played by XFM in London when I was a delivery driver, never managed to get a copy tho'.

Is 60s Northern Soul vinyl a wise Investment ?
I wouldn't buy records as a means of investment. But prices aren't just going up on Ebay, I've just seen John Manships auction. Greg Perry - It Takes Heart - Alfa, from 1982 I paid £18 on Ebay for my copy last year, after many years playing a bootleg bought at a scooter run during the 1980's. Currently on JM's auction at £121 ! (still got 11 days to go) Has the world gone mad?
