  3. Andy, no idea whether its been played or if its a current spin anywhere. Seems to be an obscure track. I had someone ask for me for a copy a few weeks ago based on an old sales list from the time I had those 2! I am sure I have only seen 1 or possibly 2 on sale here since then. Not listed on either Manship's or Brown's sites, which tells us something about its scarcity. Regards, Lee
  4. Andy I had 2 m- copies in quick succession a few years back, but I'd been looking for several years, sold them both very fast at £150, not often seen for sale and on enough wants lists to suggest demand will outstrip supply and thats when the price goes up. Lee
  5. Hi Dave, couldn't remember who the other buyer was, but Bob has picked up many 45's from me over the years, so its highly likely. Trying to work out why I didn't keep one!!! Regards, Lee
  6. I've had 2 m- copies in the last 10 years, I'm positive I sold the first to Paul Sadot, fairly cheaply in comparison to todays value. Not common at all, a theme with the best tunes! Lee
  7. No wonder the posties card said too large for the letterbox! Collected this monster mailer this morning, completely dwarfs the 45 it carried. One of many less than inventive ways by which US sellers have shipped me 45's recently, I suppose this one was guaranteed to be safe and sound given the 14 crumpled newspapers padding it out, whereas the 2 pieces of chip board covered in bubble wrap that arrived the week before left me with a sense of dread for the wellbing of that treasured vinyl, thank C****T for that paper sleeve.

  16. I have a tape that the late and missed Alan Pollard sent me some years back. I am 100% certain he'd told me he had just cracked a deal for a whole stack of Jobete 10" acetates, most of which he commited to the tape, some great tracks, particularly "Lonely lover" and I only mentioned it today to someone else that there was also a copy of "Abraham, Martin and John". I do remember at the time a lot of these Jobete acetates up for auction, cited as one-offs, maybe John Manship, but I'm not that clear on that bit, but most fetched £100 and more. I will have to dig the tape out to list the other tracks, which if they are all unissued or alternate takes may confirm that what I have on tape is an acetate recording of "Lonely lover". Lee
  17. This iconic Washington DC double sider produced by Eddie Singleton has maintained its elite cult status amongst Northern fans for over 40 years. Generally copies turn up in less than excellent condition and it remains a very elusive 45. This is a first press and like Pete Smith's recent sales copy "Don't let the door hit your back" has some minor distortion in the louder parts of that track. Pete said this can be heard on the Soul City 45, which I have checked and can confirm, so perhaps the Soul City issue was dubbed off the first press. Similarly you can hear the same distortion on the Edgewood acetate via you-tube, so I am assuming after the first run the imperfection was spotted and the first press replaced by a cleaner re-mastered recording. Of course someone more knowledgeable about the history of this release may know better? Both sides are visually vg+, good gloss, with some light marks, mostly not affecting play. "Show Stopper" plays excellent whilst "Don't let the door" plays vg+ with those minor patches of distortion, which when rarity, demand and pure Soul quality are considered can't be a show stopper! Looking back I have traced excellent condition copies selling on Soul Source (Jan 10), Anglo-American (Jun 11) and Pat Brady (Jul 11) for £1000, 1250 min and 2000 respectively, which has guided my valuation of this copy. Set sale £850, paypal fees and special delivery included. Never been a problem for me to help with payments spread over time. Always well packed and labeled with satisfaction guaranteed. 18. I sold a copy for £670 in November. in addition to the buyer who was delightd with his near mint demo copy, I had 6 other callers, 2 of which enquired with me to sell it to them at higher than my asking price. These 6 are well known serious Dj's and collectors who were genuinely gutted to have missed out on an elusive 45 for them. It may well come up for sale with the major dealers a few times a year, but you'd expect that as their own stock or an auction item for a private seller, but generelly it's not common at all so you have to get first dibs on it when it does turn up. Regards, Lee

  23. Actually listed it at 30 quid, the phone's been hotter than fire since then but sadly I can't keep abreast of every up and down value on the scene so out it goes tomorrow to the very first caller, when all's said and done I had to stick by my original listing price even if a ton sounds more attractive!!! Could have sold 5 copies of the Little Joe Roman I had as well, no one quibbling with the 700 on that, no economic gloom when vinyl is involved, Regards, Lee
