  1. You did the right thing. I really struggle with the idea that people wish to achieve some kind of status from wearing a badge relating to a soul club that they never went to. Soul badges are at best keep sakes.
  2. Aha, thats the quote. Anyway, I'd like to reverse it.
  3. Berry Gordy said to Jimmy Ruffin (i think) there will never be 2 Marvin Gaye's at Motown. Imagine if he'd changed his mind?
  4. Intersting one that. Topic for a new thread? Although looking at neg feedback on new Wigan Cafe, cause for a more disagreements. Love to hear Gavin (Get over it, its a car park) Page's views
  5. Yep like it Dan. Think we might be joined at the hip. Thanks to all people who responded with positive comments, enjoyed reading the lot
  6. Maybe you should start you're own negative thread. I'm looking for positive comments on this one

I'm a bit lost here. You ask a question (which I was keen to answer) then answer it with a link to your web site. Are you a marketing student per chance?
  8. If you could either change something or reverse something, (with soul music lovers in mind) what might it be? Here's a few ideas to start you off: Renegotiate Bobby Womack's contract so that he was never out of contract (and possibly never out of the studio?) Stop Berry Gordy renaming The Supremes, "Diana Ross & The Supremes". Stop Motown from moving from Detroit to LA (or at least make you responsible for looking after the masters during the move) Arrange a bank loan/cash injection to prevent Stax or (insert favourite studio here....) from going bust. Appreciate the 'what if' nature of the question, but please keep it soulful. Col.
  9. Thanks for that I have reserved Roscoe & Friends.

Great ad & all that, but any chance of a clip.
  14. Now that post made me smile. Ok here's one for you, Marvin Gaye during his Belgium stint. A God given voice with bucketloads of talent, hoovering up huge amounts of coke, throwing tantrums left right & centre and still producing some quality soul. Those would have been some amazing sessions. Sitting in on them & trying to make some sense of it all, is what I'd like to have done.
  15. I'd be interested in hearing the views of the people who ticked the Who Cares box. Not asking them to justify their views, just seems strange thing to vote.
  16. No need to limit it to one choice either.
  17. If you had a chance to turn back the hands of time & sit in on a recording session in a music studio, which session would it be? Year would also be interesting, but appreciate that would be difficult to give in many cases.

  20. Paid £20 for "Run for Shelter" on Uk Mercury in '79 approx. According to Record Collector" its currently valued at £20.

Excellent post. Although being a southerner I'm slightly biased.
  22. Ever thought of releasing/publishing them as playlists. Would be intersting & also resolve a few arguments. Might also start a few more, which would be even more interesting.
  23. Soulsmith commented on a comment on a gallery image in Albums 2007
