  1. just stick the precisions in the site search engine & they'll all (most) come up mate. M
  2. the black fellows from detroit I guess.
  3. think we had a debate a while back on the merits of such misery vs woman lover thief, didn't we? I love both versions. incidentally, is the drew original of SM rare these days?

vomit inducingly yours sounds as good in my opinion... M
  5. I was seriously asked the other week how to identify members of the SP, if they dressed/behaved in a particular way, any tell tale sings that gave them away etc; the person in question is about to attend his first event in the UK, the 100 Club 28th anniversary. he's genuinely nervous about it, poor sod.
  6. that doesn't bode well then, does it? hadn't realised it was that rare. I bought one off JV for a tenner in 1979, still covered up as Milton Wright! I was chemically challenged that night & left it on 'our table' to go a shake a leg. was it there when I went back? sick as a pig... M
  7. I'll second that sean. do we have a section on recommendable LPs? might be nice.
  8. I think we're labouring the point somewhat. shall we move on? bully boy is an agent provocateur. you can tell by his user name.
  9. anybody got one of these they want to shift? gracias, mac.
  10. knuckle dragger? I'm losing my english. aren't we back to the same old argument about legitimate first time UK releases being acceptable or not? One of my favourite sounds ever is don gardner's cheatin' kind. Am I ever going to own a US original? Am I buggery. I'm seriously thinking of buying the grapevine 2000 release for a tenner. No should I play it out or do I reserve it for behind-closed-doors intimate moments? My spanish friends have the right to hear it, I say...
  11. wasn't bobby hutton first played off an album? 'a piece of the action'... I had that album. woe is me...

never liked polyvelts, thought they looked unbecoming. I used to buy those solatios on peterborough market, but never knew they were called solatios. brogues & loafers were always popular. a hangover from the suedehead period I imagine.
  13. muchos thank yous.
  14. who did that? check the kent R&B cds. from there you can set your sights on the stuff that takes your fancy.
  15. I have an US copy (orange) of 'dust my broom'. I've seen this listed around the 30-40 pound mark. Any idea on value of the white demos? M
  16. as good as papal dispensation for me then!
  17. is it 'legit' to play 'this thing called love', but not 'I lost a true love' off the Danny Wagner LP. Cheap & cheerful. I bought a sealed copy a few months back for $10. cost more to ship the bugger! & who thinks the imperial 45 of ILATL is overpriced lately? Is it that rare?
  18. I don't see a problem with this. I bought the bobby bland 'touch of the blues' for 'sweet lips of joy', a wonderful track. it deserves plays. wouldn't know where to go for carvers (?). a recent addition to my LP collection is jimmy hughes 'why not tonight?' on ATCO. slippin' around, neighbor, neighbor & others. it makes sense to me.
  19. Anybody know current value for this on a M- copy.
  20. could be the next tony blackburn. stranger things have happened, ain't they? M
  21. have to say there's no mention of it being a boot/reissue/pressing & I've seen starting bids of $0.99 for originals that auction for thousands of dollars. So... please don't forget that some people are very much in the learning curve in this game. I don't think there's any need to dismiss him as silly, either. just a thought... macca. p.s. que tal albert? no le hagas caso tio.
  22. right. just told him to send me a full scan. now I'm gonna get a 'hurt' reply. strangely, he has 100% feedback on more than 300 items on Ebay. why jeopardise that for this kind of shite?
  23. the plot thickens. I've just received two scans of the record from him, but not complete scans, surprise, surprise. the label looks too glossy to be my record, which has more of a matt finish, difficult to tell from my low-res scan I know, but I just don't remember it being that glossy. I can see some distinguishing ringwear marks on mine that are not on his scan. what should I do? tell him, ever so diplomatically, to send me a full scan so we can both be sure? I'm sure the full scan will resolve any lingering doubts.
  24. For the memories of first love they bring... Patti & the Emblems - I'm Gonna Love You A Long Long Time Mel Britt - She'll Come Running Back Jackie Beavers - I Need My Baby M
