  1. well I think that's all angles covered there Roger hahaha.... It was my copy up for sale in the Ebay auction under discussion and for one awful moment I thought you were gonna say the un-credited artist white demo was a naughty boot. Phew. derek I get the impression you like this Mirettes record hahaha...

  3. Derek Pearson playing solo Saturday 24th March 2012 Bradford Community Based Radio BCB 106.6FM 21:00-22:00pm Shades Of Soul We continue saying it for soul and carry on regardless by playing a weird and wonderful selection of them old soul 45s. If you would like to hear the show live there's 2 ways to go about it - if you live within say 10 miles of the BD1 based studio tune your radio to the 106.6 frequency on your FM dial and you should be able to get it. Failing that go through the wonders of the world wide web on www.bcbradio.co.uk and hear it streamed live an' direct out of your PC. I thank you, Derek Dee Pee's playlist: More details to follow as soon as I can.
  4. You mean the Vivian Copeland one? Mmmm never thought of that one for a label listing - good shout. Will look into it. derek
  5. Anybody got an original copy of Kenard "What Did You Gain By That" on Dore that they'd be willing to let go? Cash is tight my end so my only payment options at the moment are trade and/or part cash part trade. Originals are single sided (had one in the mid 80's and sold it for £40 or summat). Not interested in one of those re-issues/re-presses or whatever they were with "Garden Of Eden" on the flip. Please PM to discuss. derek

Is it safe to assume Bob Lee owned this label? Was there a release on Crash 429? I thank you, derek
  7. Have these labels been done before? Weis (John Edwards, Forevers) Co-Co (Lou Ragland) in fact has the myriad of these small 1-2-3 release labels throughout Cleveland ever been covered in depth? Derby City (Heartbreakers) Front Page (Lee Moses) Pearltone (Freddy & Sounds Of Soul) derek
  8. Mmmm think you've a fair point there Kris - I knew next to nothing about this label apart from the odd 1 or 2 releases and then over the last 6 months or so I noticed some oddball funk things on the label fetching big figures on Ebay. There's more to this label than meets the eye I thought, wonder what else is tucked away on there, hence my suggestion. But on digging about a bit I did come across a fair few - as Kris states - cajun accordian shredfests which did sorta dampen my enthusiasm to start compiling a listing for the label somewhat. Oh well. Next. derek
  9. Just found a couple more sleeves I'd scanned but not uploaded. Don't think I've seen one of these Power Exchange sleeves before, certainly never had one before. Shame somebody's taken a bite out of the corner. Gene Faith will look good with this wrapped 'round him. derek
  10. Will post up Zudan stuff shortly but don't hold y' breath..... derek

  13. On reading the Yodi label thread I suddenly thought has the Zudan label listing been done? Some right little crackers on there - Earles Inc & Symphonic Four to name but two. Also what about these labels: La Louisianne Renee (Wales Wallace, Cicero Blake etc) done Crash (Steelers) done just a thought, derek
  14. After reading the thread directly below this posting about the Combinations 45 I did wonder has the Kellmac label been done yet? derek
  15. As somebody that's been a long time fan of label listings a thought suddenly occured to me this afternoon. Wouldn't it be a great idea if we could harness all that unbelievable array of knowledge, details, facts and figures from across all the members on here to compile listings of labels that haven't been done before? And yes I know out there in internet land a few clicks on a search button will reveal all manner of label listings from the 1960's onwards across all the states of America. But surely there must be dozens of weird and wonderful labels that haven't been documented yet - though off the top of mi head I can't think of any straight away..... (smile). What say you? derek x
  16. Always rated Daphine Williams 'I love you' as summat rather special. Released on a plain dark blue label though it's pretty hard to locate. derek
  17. this did make me smile Kris - only record collectors could say 6000 items is a small collection.... (laughs) Derek
  18. I regularly sell the odd bits n bats through Ebay to anywhere in the world and as far as I can recall I don't think I've had more than one item a year go missing in the post. Obviously it's a bit of a percentage game depending of how many items you mail out each month - if you send out say 100 a month (25 a week) there's more chance of the odd thing going awol compared to somebody that might just post say 10 a month. As Chalky says many sellers now stipulate they won't sell to certain countries with Italy and Russia being the most frequently mentioned. The socialist in me immediately thought "blimey it's like apartheid not selling records to certain countries" so I took the view I'd rather sell items to all countries anywhere in the world and put up with the odd ball ache if any problems do arise. It's not the fault of the people living in those countries if their postal service is unreliable/corrupt etc so why should they be penalised? Though I could see an opposite arguement saying well if their postal service is that bad why don't they complain and try bring about a change. Yeah right.... Once again I'd taken the moral high ground and did what I thought was right and guess what happened next........ Yep bang on cue I had 2 items go missing in the same week (laughs) - one to Sweden and one to Russia. And because we all like a happy ending I'm glad to say the swedish one landed after 4 weeks floating about somewhere. derek Oh but the Russian one didn't and he left me negative feedback which scuppered my shiny virgin 100% feedback rating (smile). I'm sure there's a moral somewhere in that story and one day I'll figure it out hahaha. And no I won't stop mailing to Russia.
  19. Selling this on behalf of an old mate - KM RIP SOLD MELVIN MOORE "All Of A Sudden" / SHAZZ "Inner Side" 3:30 (US Sky Hero) red label early 1990's re-issue? Record in Excellent condition. £30 includes free P&P anywhere in the world. Even Carlisle. PM or email (pearson544@btinternet.com) me to reserve/discuss blah blah... 20. Chuck Jackson's "Waiting In Vain" is the killer track off his 1980 EMI album 'I Wanna Make Love To You' which seems to have completely evaporated off the planet. Seems like after years under the radar collectors are starting to pick up on it and more modern DJ's are featuring it in their sets. A wise man would sit on it for a bit longer and hopefully watch the price rise. But I've never done wise. Only recently found out that it does exist on an EMI 45 but that is even more trickier to locate and which we all know that translates into being a lot more expensive. A 45 copy went through Ebay last month at a shade under £100 (coughs).. The vinyl & cover are in Excellent shape yet another Pearson fair deal - £25 SOLD PM or email pearson544@btinternet.com to reserve/discuss blah blah. I thank you, derek

  22. Mavis Staples "Love Gone Bad" (US Phono) released 1983. "Building relationships takes alot of time, alot of your heart, much more of your mind". Pure soul real soul call it what you want. derek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN3VCOs1QAA
  23. Gotta agree "How Can It Be" is real nice. But surprised nobodies yet mentioned their little beauty from 1972-3 ish "My Sweet Baby". Came out over here on UK Action 4618 (grey) which seemed to pop up alot more than its stateside release on Hotline 103. Seem to think it's the blue issue you need as the white demos have the flip "Henry Ralph" double sided. The issue always used to be a solid £40er. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSh9jfeuinU How good is this.... derek
  24. Shades Of Soul Derek Pearson & special guest DJ Dave Guiry Saturday 4th February 2012 21.00-22.00pm. Bradford Community Based Radio BCB106.6FM Tonight's guest across the airwaves of Bradford and beyond is local DJ / collector and long time buddy of mine Dave Guiry who's last visit into the BCB studios was several years ago. He proceeds to go where no other guest has gone before by airing an eclectic selection of some weird and wonderful jazz funk & disco 45s. All Era's. All styles. All over the place. As usual I'll fill in the gaps with some crackly vinyl and witty chit chat (yeah right). Fasten your seat belts and await 60 minutes of the good groove. It could go anywhere and often does. And as usual if you're interested in hearing the show live there's 2 ways to go about it - first try the good old 106.6FM frequency on your radio if you live within roughly 10 miles of the studio and secondly through the wonders of the world wide web www.bcbradio.co.uk Onwards, Derek All Era's. All styles. All over the place. Dave Guiry's eclectic selection: Dee Pee's random selection of eight crackly vinyl 45s: Charles Spurling - She cried just a minute - King Don Hollinger - Cruel World - Atco Lou Rawls - Dead end street - Capitol Jimmy Delphs - Almost - Karen Flame and the Lovelights - The way I want our love - Jaber The Enticers - Calling for your love - Cotillion The Commands - No time for you - Dynamics Magnificent 7 - Never will I - Dial
  25. Magnificent 7 "Never will I" (Dial) The way this 6 man group sing "So close a breeze can't blow between us, so tight you couldn't part us with a tommy gun" is just brilliant. Turns up about 1:45 mins in. Dedicated to Tony Livesey. derek
