  3. Hi everyone Looking for a couple of things please: 1) Advice on how to record live radio using a laptop/PC. 2) An offer from a kind Soul-Sourcer to record something for me this week please as I won't be around to record it myself. Wednesday night for 2 hours - 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Thanks in advance Cheers Richard
  4. Anyone tell me anything about this nice little R&B styled Detroit song please? Sweet Sammy J - Baby, Just You And Me (Hi-Q 5039) Nice girlie backing gives it a more sophisticated 'soul' feel than many R&B tracks. Cheers Richard
  5. Thanks Bob and Dave! Bob - never noticed any wear on my copy - pretty much a minter - will give it a good close inspection later though. I like the funk side - starts off a bit slow but then builds nicely - not 'funky edged northern' at all - but maybe 'northern-edged funk'? - with a capital "F". Any thoughts on value with either sweet or funk collectors anyone please? Cheers Richard
  6. Unless a box load comes along
  7. Don't you have to use your real name on Facebook? So why not post the person's user name on here - see if anyone knows them? Cheers Richard

  10. Just pulled my copy and, like the copy in the scan above, it has a small inked stamp at the bottom just above the printed writing "Detroit Sound Recording Co." The stamp says P. 1974 on the top line and then underneath that DETROIT SOUND, INC. That dates it nicely Cheers Richard
  11. Never heard of it!
  12. Found this link with the attached info and pics: https://www.library.cornwall.on.ca/New_DP/search/browse.php?collection=Cornwall%20Industry&lets=c&subs=Compo%20Records%20Company A subsidiary of Decca and the Music Corporation of America (MCA) built a plant after coming to the city in 1963.
  13. Just make sure you cover off every item in case they still have to sell them to you (not sure ebay can force them to do that though). Good luck! Richard
  14. Complain on every single item through resolution centre first - and don't leave it too late mate.
  15. Hi everyone I have a copy of the Showstopping Super Sonics - Ear Action (and You Better Quit It) / What Kind Of Girl Is She (Detroit Sound Records #2883). What an absolutely brilliant name for a group!! Always wanted a copy just for the name Sometimes seen listed as "D Records" - part of the De-To and Music Now set up. Seems quite rare. Apart from the above, I can't find out much about the group or record. Topside is a nice funk track. The flip is slow sweet soul. Scan is not my copy but nicked from Collectors Frenzy. Cheers Richard
  16. Looks like a sky blue VW camper van to me mate with a white roof and top I just googled "northern soul camper van"

  19. Hi everyone 21st Generations - I Need Love/Hey James (Tri-City). Looking for some info on this group and their other releases please. I know this one also came out on Ultra-City. Is this the same group that recorded on the Joy label as the 21st or the 21st Century? Anyone got the group line-up or know about connections to another other groups please? TIA for any info Cheers Richard
  20. So I guess this is more evidence that it is likely to be an original. I thought it was a joke about "Last of the Summer Wine", Compo and Cornwall in England meaning somehow it was a bootleg. Couldn't figure that out as the programme was filmed in Holmfirth What is varitype typesetting and how can I tell it apart from something else? Cheers Richard
  21. Are you saying that there were two J D Bryants that went through eBay around 2008 - one sold for USD $10k as shown above and got picked up by Popsike - the other sold for USD $24k and did not get caught by Popsike listings? Cheers Richard

  25. So it was YOU! that was stalking me on the Loughborough road this morning while I was driving in my white camper van and trailer All that swerving around, pulling alongside and hand gestures really freaked me out - thought you were a road-rager!
