Stax/volt The Best Of The Companies Xover And Northern Soul Releases
Hey, I don't how we came down this road, all I said was that I felt "generation" was overvalued for the content. The reason why I wanted this thread to work, was so that I could pick up on a few new (to me) tunes and the response has been great. My interest in the Stax/Volt group has been revived by my rediscovery of Kent's catalogue. I particularly love the "let's crossover again" and "nobody wins" CD's.. Electrified love is a fabulous track, no question. As for the cussin' the hip hop genre is littered with expletives, which is not my cuppa tea I'm afraid. I hope that we're basically on the same page. Thanks for taking the time out to respond Boba!

Stax/volt The Best Of The Companies Xover And Northern Soul Releases
Very interesting, but I would like to add that the "northern soul" tag doesn't really apply to me. I have followed soul music before it was broken into genres. I've always thought that the 70's brought about a huge change in the quality of recorded music, thankfully many of these recordings are finding a new audience. Whilst respect is due to those who favour it; hip hop holds no interest for me. You will call me old fashioned I know, but generally I find swearing and foul language both in music and in public utterly distasteful. I have always been happy however that others see both quality and value, in tunes that don't appeal to me. Thanks to Soulsource, I learn something new everyday. I have no choice - Black Nasty does appeal : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwbRZGhzMFQ

Although I was aware of the John Legend cover , I hadn't given much thought to which audience it appealed. Thanks for the info - these forums continue my soul education.

Any US 7" I know its probably a bit LCD, if its not too much trouble could we have more details in responses. Whilst I'm aware that the very rare Andantes "like a nightmare" V.I.P. 25006, commands £5K+, I don't know the Patrice Holloway referred to. Thanks anyway. Mick

What Are The Rarest Us Motown Group 45's (Excluding Frank Wilson)?
Obviously nothing compares to Frank Wilson in respect of Scarcity and Valuation, however what comes after that? I was wondering whether this is worth some reflection, particularly since some items which may be considered "played out" and were relatively common in 70's and 80's are still in demand and commanding high prices. e.g. Frances Nero, always a great tune but wasn't difficult years ago : https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=Frances+Nero&thumbs=&currsel=&sortord=&x=13&y=10 I'm thinking here of original US Northern/Crossover type releases only, not those records rare due to dint of matrix number or as MJ or Diana related collectables. For example : Kim Weston's withdrawn 1964 beautiful Tamla release "A Little More Love" TM54106, commands a very high price but has little to commend it from a Northern Soul point of view. Is there anything worth investing our hard earned in?

There's also this We-produce double sider that commands a high price, the amount of money not being worth the sum of its melody. Much overrated in my humble: Ernie Hines Our Generation and What would I do -We Produce XPA-1809 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yASEBikdjfI

Anderson Brothers - I Can See Him Loving You
Here are some Popsike values: https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=anderson+brothers&thumbs=&currsel=&sortord=&x=15&y=11 Mines a vinyl boot (1st with a ridged label) with an off centre label, bought from Selectadisc in mid 70's, with Company sleeve. To be honest i thought it was legit then, but there again I was very naive about bootlegs at the time. Nice to see that there are stockers about. Great record and thread. Thanks

What we really need is some Beach Music (and some beach weather): Try Salty Miller One More Time {which unfortunately I don't have but "she's My Girl" is winging its way}: I believe that the whole Lp is great. Mick

Mr Manships Auction Results 4-7-2012
Re Put Your Tears Away I was lucky enough to pull a mint copy of I Feel So Bad for a song some years back through Record Collector Mag (those days are gone now) however having "discovered" the Put Your Tears Away LP somewhat later, I'd recommend lending ears to a stereo copy of that at around £30, rather than shelling silly money for the 45's, a great album at a reasonable price. Worth a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ_0Q9bv-BU
