SOULSOURCE RECORD CLUB 2016, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT?
I note that the Youtube clip shows the UK release on Blue Horizon. The label was regarded as a mainly UK Blues label, being the original label for Fleetwood Mac. A bit of a strange release for the label at that time, I would of thought and quite rare ?

True. a fiver is still about my limit though. To be fair we had no idea about scarcity 25 years ago. Not that we do now, but there are some tunes that might have broken had they not turned up in huge numbers. Has anyone been watching Luke Cage? What a (qualified by "todays standards" ) brilliant sound track. I like my Marvel series', but the NETFLIX ones are like watching paint dry. Must be a thread on Soulsource about somewhere I guess. Great music though.

Martyn's posting of the excellent "this I beg of you" brought to mind the Shirley Vaughan track, both of which I bought from Richard Domar for around the five quid mark, probably 25 years ago. Sadly there seems to have been a ton of them around over the years, so they've stayed in the Northern for under a tenner boxes. Shirley Vaughan "Watch out Mr Lonely" Double RR

Perk Lee – Peanut Butter Sandwich / The Docks Discogs tells me that this is a nice, but quite a pricey item. According to that source it was released on two labels then as the clip is showing Boss and if so is one more affordable as I like it a lot. ? Nice one

Having heard Shaft played on radio 6,sunday, my thoughts turned to Cafe Regio's, funnily enough always my avourite track on the LP. Still remember enjoying the movie first time around, and the impact of Issac clad in brass ring waist coat picking up his Oscar. Different and nice choice.

SOULSOURCE RECORD CLUB 2016, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT?
This is another I heard on a Levine Mixcloud Episode while on holiday recently. While I think that this is great and Mr Levine refers to it getting plays, he doesn't half push the boundaries with his blue eyed selections., Good job I like sunshine pop too. Having made an offer on discogs for a vg copy at $40 the guy turned it down while on the same day I managed to reel one in Ex, on ebay for half that. Anyway I'm guessing that Martyn must have bought this one to our attention at some time Ronnie Milsap Thousand Miles From Nowhere Scepter New Breed/RnB

Class to these ear-lugs. The demo's got Jessie James on both sides though, sadly. Nice one!

Comedy Sale Of The Day
No question of anyone being misled by the seller here, he has a good following and is perhaps the same seller as for the Charles Spurling mentioned above. Though I can't understand the obsession with the Sebastian Williams Ovid record, that is surely not rare? Easily said I suppose when 20 years ago you could pick one up for a fiver. £96.00 anyway https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331971733485?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

SOULSOURCE RECORD CLUB 2016, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT?
Watch out if you're thinking of getting a copy as the A side is a god awful ballad called "Gone" from an album of the same name. The point being that many of the demo's have "gone" on both sides. There is one for sale here on ebay, if anyone's interested. I havn't seen an issue of the record for sale and there are very few on Popsike.

Here's one languishing in the bottom of the box. I guess someone must have posted it here at some time, as it's one of those bubbler's that used to be called a "semi-known". I originally bought it for the B side, anyway it's the Blues Groove on Verve: Makin it - Latin Infused dance: I believe in You - Xover:

SOULSOURCE RECORD CLUB 2016, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT?
A Johnny Harris production too. Johnny was born in Scotland and made his name producing and arranging albums for the likes of Tom Jones, Englebert , Lulu and Jackie Trent in the 1960's , moving on to bigger things in the states during the early 1970's. The move led to a lot of TV work and it's interesting to note that there's reference to this on here. Growing up in the 60's I don't mind a decent pop tune and you'll have to admit Chris, that Johnny Harris is hardly in the same league, Soul wise as Rick Hall, though even he succombed to the lure of producing rock bands. I can listen to Ian Levine's mixes without prejudice cos I never went to the Mecca or any of his gig. Although at times seeming obsessed with rarity, he does play some nice tunes but also the odd duffer. Thanks for sharing. nice northern soul tunes,

Here's one I heard on a Levine Mixcloud, so I decided to dig it out. Bill Medley What Have You Got To Lose MGM. Sounds like a cross between Cajun Heart and Mike Post. Wack it up to get that brass sounding sweet, a Rick Hall production :

Been taking an interest in UK Jay Boy releases of late. Found this one interesting as I can't see any reference to a US release. As I understand it was recorded in UK, possibly the same group who were also touring UK clubs under various group banners during the late 60's. I believe that it's one of the rarer releases on the label. Quite a few threads on here about Jay Boy, here's one if anyone's interested: The Invitations Picking Up Jay Boy records:

I don't like marmite, but love this. Sunshine pop it may be, but it's got the groove. Nice one.

Sounding very darkly Detroit to my ears, flip the effervescent Try A lttle Harder for the Fi-Dels Bob Refl composition You Never Do Right (My Baby), Keymen/Jay Boy UK. I didn't realise that some of these Jay Boy's have become quite expensive - after 40 years I still find it hard to take the label seriously, though all credit to President for knocking the tunes out.
