Are You There - Dawn Penn
The Dioone Warwick versions came out on a series of Greatest Hits LPs on Hallmark (70s Cheapo label) - I know this 'cos I was listening to them whilst paiting the ceilings last week.

Records That Sound The Same
Forriss Woods "Stoned On Love" on Abbot and David Morris "Stoned On Love" on Radnor are exactly the same cut. The David Morris has a dancer on the flip though.

Marlena Shaw - Cadet 5549

Having A Little Clear Out
Try contacting Warren Boogaloo aka Boogaloo Soul - he'd probably be interested in the Roy Brown (I played it a fortnight ago and he came up to the decks to get the details...)

Records Upon First Hearing That Blow You Away
Don't get the arse just because I think one track is shite - it's all about personal opinions. Soul Police - you're avvin a tin baff aincha? I'd have been banged up for crimes against Northern Soul years ago for even liking R&B that borders on Rock n' Roll.

Records Upon First Hearing That Blow You Away
Plenty of people are into having nails knocked into their knackers, doesn't mean to say I want to join them in their passtime.

Records Upon First Hearing That Blow You Away
You asked why I thought it was poor - how could I tell you without dissecting it? Next time I'll just say "because it's shit"...

Records Upon First Hearing That Blow You Away
Without a doubt - the intro is soooooo High Energy. The backing is far too electronic sounding. And it goes on for about a minute too long. On the plus side the blokes got a decent set of pipes, shame the backing spoils it. Maybe Ian ought to drop the production side and concentrate on the writing, passing the lyrics onto someone who can do the singers justice?

Big Apple Brass
Anyone know owt about this? Presumably it's the same group that did the tricky disco "A Fifth Of Beethoven"? Fortunately this sounds nowt like it - it's a decent enough late 70s uptempo dancer. So has it been played anywhere? when? by whom? etcetara etcetara etcetara Price and availability if known? Cheers.
