  1. Thanks Graham and Bob, I'm OK for those two, yes the Trouble I've Had was probably the only hit they had in the soul era. I'm OK for Clarence Ashe it's those weird duets and Jimmy Armstrong that I need most. Cheers Ady
  2. Ah that's where I should be. T Smith 2 has obliged, thanks folks.
  3. I Need You Like A Baby I Can't work out how to get it off Ref-O-Soul, could some kind soul please send it to me at ady.croasdell@btinternet.com Cheers Ady
  4. Thanks I'm intrigued, it was an odd group of labels (Sprout and Junior Achievement too) but very interesting to unravel. Ady
  5. I wouldn't mind hearing it if you get the chance to bung it in the post to me at Ace Steve. Ta Ady
  6. Apparently. From about 1970, anyone know it. These NYC small labels are as undocumented as they come.
  7. Anyone got the Freda Allyne or know if Pugsley Munion, Mae Moton, Catha Morrison, JJ Simmons, Trudy & Bobby, Lee Pratt etc. You can see how they went out of business! And who were Sity & James and Carolyn & Sam while we're at it?
  8. Anyone got it for a loan? I could use an Ex copy of Jimmy & Arthur on J&S too; anyone know who they or dickie & Billy are? Ady
  9. 'Fraid not Tony, the masters have flown. There's a Ruben Wilson jazz single on the label too.
  10. Thanks folks and any leads on Gloria or the Inconquerables would be appreciated. Andy Killick has the latter apparently so I'll ask him at some stage what the SP is. Cheers for the extra info John, Dave is long gone and his widow passed a couple of years ago. I'm dealing with the very charming daughter, Flodavieur herself but as she was 7 when most of these were cut, I'm trying to piece together info on the label and Dave. Ady
  11. Now Sorted by the mods (suited types not our motley administrators) on Mod Culture. Thanks for looking.
  12. If so could we borrow it, usual rates apply. Ady
  13. I doubt it he's long gone and I'm dealing with Flodavieur herself. I'm piecing together a listing at the moment.
  14. It's listed in the big Indy labels book, one side ony known # 807 'You Won't Be True'.
  15. That'll be the one, I'm always getting my numbers mixed up! Ta.
  16. I got the Norma Jean in case you think you were seeing things.
  17. For me it would be to get my copy of Sam Nesbit 'Black Mother Goose' back on a 77 (Dave Godin's label that never happened, I think that was the label name) white label vinyl press.
  18. Title is Too Young Untold riches (or a few CDs, the referee's decision will be final) to the lovely volunteer. Ta Ady
  19. All I know is they wrote and recorded it for or about the film, whether it got to audition stage I'm not sure. What a sound though.
  20. Yes Kev, I ramble on about it in the sleevenotes but basically it's the first run through of the song in late 66 before the JayBoy version. It's quite different, probably just Eddie singing.
  21. Yes it's David Blake who also produced Frank Dell with Phil Medley, and Bob Calilli who ran DiVenus. They also sent me a 10" acetate of a brilliant unissued track by the Quotations called 'I Want to Thank You baby' that I played at the 100 on Sat and it even impressed Butch, and went down well.
  22. It depends what qualifies as a CD. Several have been out as record dubs, often in poor quality on dubiously licensed comps or out and out boots. Here it's mainly masters with bonuses like 15 secs of the Quotations, which sounds great; unissued Eddie & Ernie Columbia master, Ty Karim and Larry Atkins sounding crisp and clean, Brooks O'Dell for the first time on a Northern CD. The Flowers hasn't been out on CD and probably not Tommy Smiley (fascinating story about his whereabouts!) and I can't be arsed to see what others have already been bootlegged on CD.
  23. End of May I think, I've been a little busy and it got delayed! Lots of SS contributors on there, I don't know what we did for info and scans before this marvelous "club" was set up.
  24. Thanks chaps, SS strikes again. I'll take you both up on those, I wonder why both price guides don't mention either! There's still plenty of cataloguing to be done obviously. Cheers Ady
  25. On J&S and Groovy respectively.
