  1. Wow so the Kent single is the same as Searling's and different to the CD. I seem to remember we put a different version out on 45 to make it interesting. So people who remember the original as being slightly faster aren't remembering correctly then? It could have been something to do with the medicine they were on. Thanks Ivor but Tats might be different to Searling's even if it was original as there were several takes and mixes.
  2. Brett can you stick a copy in the post to the Harboro address, I might as well hear all of them. Thanks Simon, I ain't got sound here but I'll listen to it later.
  3. Cheers Toby, if you could do a copy and send it to me in Harboro that would be dead handy. You can sit on Roger's table!
  4. No but the origination costs are more and you need to sell more than 500 of anything to make it worthwhile/profitable.
  5. Cheers chaps, most helpful, Craig can now afford a short break at a Travel Lodge

Smashing chap, eccentric and loveable, I'm very sorry. Ady
  7. Anyone got a sound copy of Searling's original, I need to know whether there's a lot more tambourines than on the version Kent put out?
  8. Have I asked for a loan of this before. i still need it any road up.
  9. Possibly but sales are not very high on vinyl and basically companies who pay royalties can't sell enough to break even. Copy your CD track onto acetate if you're that desperate.
  10. Can any of you chaps or chapesses tell me the best way to put sound bites into my EBay auction sales. I think I'm making MP3s. Ta Ady
  11. Thanks Steve, the Milton Bennett will be on Vol 2 of the GWP CDs, the instrumental is on Vol 1. There's the Devonnes as well and the Jaibi and Larry Banks 'My Life Is No Better' that I and Dave Rimmer play. The Hesitations 'Go Away' that Butch plays and there's some great group stuff from The Shaladons and another male solo from Bobby Penn. They'll all get spun at the 100 Club over the next year.
  12. I think Ian and i will probably print our versions of the story in our autobiographies when we've hung up our soul shoes and have a spare year. The argument is definitely left well in the past for the time being. The only comment I would make is that i think thirty years is a bit too much to ascribe to Ian's Northern involvement, in the twenty six years we have been running he was only active on the scene for a handful of those though he only lived about 4 miles away. But each to his own, he has been busy with many of his own projects over the years.
  13. That's my third mistake on here over the festive period, Ivor's spot on in all respects
  14. Gladys is great but the most orgasmic and original and superlative is the flip of Toni Lamarr's Just In The Nick of Time (also good) which is called It's Too Late on Buddah.
  15. Each one has a micro chip inside and if I find people have been unethical in their dealings I send Kenny round!
  16. I used to play it at the 100 Club blues and jazz nights a few years ago (though it's neither). I wouldn't be surprised if Rudy Clark's version was the demo George Harrison (a big early soul fan who rated Dave Godin's work) heard.
  17. It was a 4 track 12" promo only 90 copies and I'm pretty sure the Ace CD is deleted now.
  18. Going for a song under the seller's name horacesrecords Finishing this evening plus a few other interesting ones, a couple of ska and a UK Bobbyu Wells no one seems to want.
  19. I'm sorry I don't speak that sort of Eeengleeesh!
  20. Felicitations to all my imaginary friends out there. Keep those Xmas bids up Ian so I can afford some shoes for Thursday and Kirsty I'll have a rummage in my bran tub for you darling. X
  21. All sorts of odds and sods like a Fuller Bros demo, Pretenders rare version of 'I Call It Love', Earl Grant 'Bamboo' on UK Brunswick and a Passions doo wop mint rarety on Top Rank finishing today. All sorts of stuff under horacesrecords Cheers Ady
  22. Seconded, thirded etc and most importantly, he has impeccable soul morals which have kept this the best site bar none.
