  3. Hope it wasn't an expensive one Phil and I hope you get it sorted. Kev See Damage Limitation.
  4. Kiki Dees also cheap as chips on Sounds Superb. Great Album. Lots of Motown Covers and Deon Jackson etc. Well worth £4.69 incl. P&P
  5. Anyone got a clip of Marvin singing 'Baby I'm for Real' and 'Stepping Closer to Your Heart' as I've never heard these versions. Thanks Kev

  7. Law of the Land Joan. I once bought a w/d copy of The Dynamics 'Yes I love You' Top Ten off Matt Simpson down the 100club for £15. About a month later I was strapped for cash and sold it to Mr Brady for £150. Told matt and to compensate sold him some reords from my box at cheap value. Everyone's happy. Me him and Pat. Do you get it now? Kev
  8. Wish my cd burner was working AArrrggghhhhh! Christmas soon. Kev
  9. Another great Smokey Robinson and the Miracles-Just Losing You- I've only managed to pick it up on a Sounds Superb album so far but take my word its 'hairs on the back of your neck' kinda tune.
  10. Is it just me but doesn't the later Smokey version of 'I'll try something new' sound better than the Miracles early 60's version. Kiki Dees version is also outstanding. What a vocal! Kev
  11. Hey Ian I was reading the Pinnacle thread and you seem to know a bit about the business. I've read 'Death of Rhythm' & Blues and 'The History of Stax records' etc etc but could do with more info. What would be the market coverage of say a The Tempests, Maxine Brown, Chuck Jackson or Garnet Mimms album as opposed to The Miracles or The Tams etc. Any ideas??? Cheers Kev
  12. I haven't come across that one yet-but Aretha has done so many good songs-one of my favourites lately has been 'I'm in love'. Kev
  13. I don't think that's a fair comment as there's lots of 60's album tracks that have 'goodies' i. e. Leon Haywood 'Got to be mellow' or The Metros 'Do the Pied Piper'. The Shades of Blue 'A Way to Love' All phonomenal tunes. But you're probably right in the respect that albums in the black record market were not compiled in large amounts until later in the sixties, with the probable exception of the bigger soul labels like Stax and Motown. But surely Wand/Capitol/RCA/WB and others had there share of the market. Anyone got any more info please? Kev
  14. Thanks must check that one out again. Kev
  15. Why not split the cost then no one loses out. seems the right thing to do to me. Kev
  16. Hi Paul Didn't know you did the album trail. Nina Simone's version of House of the rising sun is also awesome. builds and builds into a crazy thingymijiggy. Kev (You heard from Oscar lately? (Give him a ring)

  19. Just thought as the ballads thread seems to be doing so well. And not knowing if this has been done recently as I'm a fairly new member. What about favourite mid tempo/ballad album tracks. Now I know that lots of folk are 45 only kinda people but most have a few hidden lp gems somewere and I suspect that a lot have lots. Any chance of sharing them?
