Percy Sledge - The Angels Listened In (Atlantic)
dug this one out of my memory banks today. a big Tony Clayton spin during the Peterboro/Oddfellows days, circa early 80's. anyone else ever play it out? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwbddcAw9I8

Little Richard-'get Down Get With It'
Rock n Roll? whatever next? a clonkin piece of gritty Rhythm & Blues thats quite irresistable! so 'get down get with it' is Rock n Roll .... but Charlie Gracie's 'He'll never love you like i do' is "Northern soul" (which incedentally, i do like) ? plus, we embrace 'when we get there' and 'I walked away' but knock Mr Penniman give me Little Richard any day..........Stompin brilliance - lets DANCE!!

Records You Are Embarrassed To Own Up To Liking
I like Charity Brown, i also like 'The Snake' , i like Frank Wilson, The Casualeers, etc etc. all GREAT records in their own right, mostly over played, but brilliant recordings. Like FW or not, theres no disputing that irresistable intro, then a huge rim shot brings the rhythm section in, superb record!

Dobie Gray R I P....
WONDERFUL!!! I sang this at a karaoke bar in Bulgaria during a ski holiday in 1993....... EVERYBODY sang along to the chorus, it just proves that a classic song is known by all. thanks for posting this. i'm geuinely saddened by DG's passing..............

Dobie Gray R I P....
very sad news. OOTF was the staple diet of us young lads in the hot summer of '76. a fine record indeed.... the 'off key' sounding piano melody was the hook that made the tune. Also, i contribute on a drummers' forum , where we had a thread on our 'fave lyrics' in a song.... my reply: "Gimme the beat boys and free my soul, i wanna get lost in your rock n roll and DRIFT AWAY" RIP

Telling Original From Re-Release
believe me mate. i'm no expert , but i'd wager the one with the 'machine' pressed stamp is an original'legit copy, whilst the other is a bootleg
