  2. Im using my mums old laptop while mine is being fixed, but the keys keep sticking, i have to go over everything twice, or it could be old age Debbie x

Early RnB means Rythm & Blues Modern night club RnB means Rough n Beery Debbie x
  4. I was asked to be an extra for this film, i could of kissed the chap who asked me, because he thought i looked young enough to do it, (dont say a word Webby ) But because i was moving house at the time, i could not make it. I dont think it will appeal to everyone on here, but it may spark some interest in the younger generation, which would keep the scene going perhaps??? As for myself, i would enjoy watching the original footage, i cant say about the rest of the film, as i have not seen it, but i do think, when you try & re-create an event that happened, its never quite the same Im glad i did not do it now! Debbie x
  5. It might be worth checking E Bay I got one that holds 200 records for £14.99 with free p&p Debbie x
  6. This is the same person selling the Betty O'Brien on E Bay, with the spelling Betty O,Brian I have already had a moan at this person for taking my old webite name that i still own & have paid for, so all they did was just stick 55 on the end Debbie x
  7. Susan, Have you got any photo's of you wearing the trousers?, it would be nice to see the designs Old Historians do have alot to remember you try remembering all the styles & designs from the 1600s to the 1970s I have given sooo many lectures, my poor brain gets a bit fried What i meant was, you did not see chaps wearing this style in London so it may of been more popular up North. Some of the chaps in London would wear the 1930s American trousers called Oxford Bags, or they would just have them made by Spencers. Brian, C & A have pinched your design, but i bet they did not do it as good! Debbie FTF
  8. I like most vintage style of dress, i used to go to some 40s Lindy & Swing nights, as i like the dancing, but when i had my old 20s & 30s cars, i used to dress 20s & 30s, with a Louise Brooks type bob, which also fit a bit of a 60s mod look. But now my hair is quite long, with a short fringe, as i like the Betty Page style, im still spinning in circle skirts at soul nights , but i do like to add my own style to them Its been lovely chatting on here to you, & like i said before, if you see us about, please come over & say hi Debbie x
  9. I had never seen the side pockets before on the trousers, i think its good to add your own touch to something, i like to do that myself But you dont see anyone wearing the high waist styles on the bags today, i always think its very flattering on men & women I would say, you were the best dressed chap on the scene, sorry to make you blush again! I must ask!.......Have you kept any of your original clothing? Debbie x
  10. can't remember my first niter.. I went to very few until 1980. i do remember the first wigan trip, christmas all nighter, dec 19th (i think) 79, with Caveman Pete, Kev Charles (RIP) and Biz. no chance remembering the first record at any event i've been to Ian

My first 70s long leather coat, came from the Kings Road in the late 70s, as i used to like going into Vivienne Westwoods first shop called "SEX", but i was quite lucky to live in London as in the 80s, if you popped down to Kensington or Camden you could go through rails of them, i purchased a black, dark brown, burgundy, navy & bottle green. I still wear my original 70s black & dark brown, but my green & burgundy one got worn out & i sold my navy to Kate Moss, when i used to work in my vintage clothing shop, it was great to see her wearing it on a tv show. These old vintage coats got me started on vintage clothing & textiles, which led me to become a professional vintage clothing historian. Debbie x I could never afford one Ian You should of come to London, they were £8-£15 each Debbie x FTF
  15. i'd go with Cecil Washington as well, along with the tomangoes. Gene Toones was a huge Rushbrooke play in the later days (still popular today), just like Mike Post was huge a few yrs earlier . lets not forget 'landslide' too
  16. https://cgi.ebay.com/LITTLE-CARL-CARLTON-Competition-Aint-Nothin-BACK-BEAT_W0QQitemZ350307920655QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item518ffaab0f never seen a CA copy. is this a raity or ten a penny?
  17. I walked away - Bobby Paris actually, it shoulda stayed a B side , probably the worst record ever played on the northern scene ( can ya tell i don't like it?) I also believe Nancy Wilson ' the end of our love' is the original B side , as was 'nothing can compare to you' Velvet Satins..... there must be hundreds played that were B's Ian
  18. blimey. not heard Trade Martin (producer of the velvet satins) for absolutely years ! the tune doing it for me lately, even after many many years of listening is a toss up between Brice Coefield 'aint that right and HB Barnum, 'Heartbreaker' love em IAN

  22. Am I right in thinking that there were a few steps from the lobby/corridor area into Mr M's door? I seem to recall sitting on them one night waiting for 3am
  23. I heard the spencer davis group in there too.
  24. for a good night out i'm sure these events are top notch, with artists that do a fine job, but personally i would'nt go. I saw the 'real' 4 tops in 85 and it was something that will never be repeated. I also saw the Temps around the same time. they had a great line up, but even then, as someone who grew up with Ruffin/Kendricks vocals, something was missing
