  2. Don't get out to soul do's much anymore but totally with you on that one, pure class and well worth a 45 release...over to you Mr Mooney lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  3. I suggest if you were not already aware of this previously unissued track recorded September 1967 to get on it as soon as it's released, I first became aware of it when it appeared on the 1989 Charly LP - Rare Soul From The Quinvy/Broadway Sound Studio Volume Five "Rainbow Road" - CRB1225 which featured recordings by Don Varner, Ruby Winters, Tony Borders, Bill Brandon and Joe Perkins, another stunning Don Varner unissued track also features on Volume One - Tear Stained Soul - CRB1219 'When It's Over' which would also be well worth putting out as a 45? Just wondered if this is also in the pipeline for release Paul? Regards - Mark Bicknell.

  6. Lorraine, I've let go many records over the years but never the real special ones like these three RCA Victor Demos which you signed at Stafford all those years ago, also loved what you wrote on the Johnny Dixon record which you supervised on, you may remember the Triple 'B' Four Sonics version of 'Were Are You' which you produced and Co wrote with Jack Ashford and their version of 'Tell Me You're Mine' which you were executive producer on and the beautiful 'Crying Clown' by Eddie Parker which you Co wrote and produced, you must have been a very busy lady which we thank you for. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  7. Dave, wonderful mate, I did have a beautiful photograph at Stafford with Lorraine but it got lost over time....that's me Lorraine in the background now I know why my wife Jacqui married me lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  8. I reckon we should as a matter of duty see that Lorraine get's a copy of each of her wonderful records, does not seem right to me that she does not own her own records, remember a similar situation when Gil Blanding came on here a few years ago and we sourced him a copy of 'Rules', so what do you reckon gang? I'll get onto JM and see what he has in stock. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  9. Wall to wall heartaches sooner have them in a box to play lol

  14. Better late than never with my selections from last Friday, really hit home to me just how many records I have let go and how out of my depth I was as I've not really DJ'd anywhere in over two years apart from house party BBQ's at friends, ok to dip my toe now and again but I strongly believe if you are doing this DJ thing on a regular weekly basis then you should have the tools of the trade as it were quality ones at that, nice to see so many old faces and the party people having fun, nice cake by the way, enjoyed it and the several cold ones, nice to be asked to DJ at this superb venue which should be full to the rafters every month, quality sound system, good dance floor making it a top night, not got the DJ bug back but nice as I say to dip my toe every now and then, I'll leave it to the professionals like Grant, Mr Murphy and Co. who still have the passion and commitment to do it week in week out, respect and fair play to them. Playlist in no order but these were the 23 records I played. Little Hank - Mr Bang Bang Man - Sound Stage Seven The Incredibles - There's Nothing Else To Say - Audio Arts Joy Lovejoy - In Orbit - Checker Larry Atkins - Ain't That Love Enough - Highland Gene Chandler - Mr Big Shot - Constellation DJ Bobby Williams - I've Only Got Myself To Blame - Sure-Shot DJ The Belles - Don't Pretend - Mirwood The Soul Twins - Give The Man A Chance - Karen DJ Chuck Jackson - What's With The Lonliness - Kent 6T'S 8 Garland Green - Girl I Love You - Revue The Ringleaders - Baby What Has Happened To Our Love - M-Pac Tommy Neal - Goin' To A Happening - Vault DJ Johnny Wyatt - This Thing Called Love - Bronco The Poets - She Blew A Good Thing - Symbol DJ Ike And Tina Turner - Somebody Needs You - Loma DJ Jimmy Conwell - Too Much - Gemini Inez And Charlie Foxx - Tightrope - Dynamo The Falcons - Good Good Feeling - Big Wheel Steve Mancha - Friday Night - Groovesville DJ The O'Jays - I'll Never Forget You - Imperial DJ The Showmen - Our Love Will Grow - Swan DJ Emanuel Laskey - I'm A Peace Loving Man - Thelma Freddie Houston - If I Had Known - Old Town DJ

  16. Just watched it on You Tube lol and again something else to confirm that I'm best off out of it really, sad very sad indeed, the only correct statement regarding Frank Wilson was the fact that it sold for £26K the rest of it well rose tinted glasses spring to mind, would make a refreshing change if the TV people actually talked to people who still make a contribution to the scene instead of this watered down retro bullshit, talking about Talc, Frank etc. etc. is not a true reflection of what it's all about, to state that all Northern Soul records are poor Motown copies is without foundation in the bigger picture, yes the sound was a big inspiration to many of the small Mom And Pop record companies but some had their very own sound and does not wash with me sorry, it's a lazy and easy way to describe the music, perhaps a little more depth would best describe the sound rather than using Frank and Edwin all the time as examples. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
