Try removing the lens and cleaning the contacts on the body and the lens, that can resolve some problems.

Is it definitely the button stuck down Steve, might be worth googling the fault as you may find a DIY fix online. I could always loan you a Nikon body, but you would need an adaptor to fit your lens on it ... either that or get creative with some gaffer tape 😄

Rick Formatting will erase the data ... sort of ... it's still there until you write over it ... but let's not format it. Is it the camera or the memory card that has stopped working? You may have better luck removing the card from the camera and using a card reader plugged into a USB on the PC, at least you would be able to see the card as an external drive and be able to view any files on it, if so you could simply drag them onto your PC.

A simple Blue Tit amongst the Phragmites reeds, they often search for insects in the feather flower spikes of the reeds.
