  2. Up at Belvide Reservoir Pete, but that is members only access ... you will get them along the canals around here, there is a canal runs by Wombourne, worth a stroll along see what you can see. The ones at Belvide come up from the local canal. You need to keep your eyes peeled though Pete as they are bloody quick, and quite a small bird so can be a challenge to spot
  3. Same here, I had 21 sightings a few weeks back, we saw three together on Saturday, good to see them they are a gorgeous bird
  4. Shoveler and a Goldeneye and a Blue Missile
  5. They can be like that, but 3 times in the last 6 years they have come to me, usually only around for a few days, once the berries are gone off our neighbours tree they move on. Best place to see them is supermarket carparks, as they tended to plant a lot of Sorbus (Mountain Ash) trees with the landscaping
  6. Not seen any this year Steve. They usually go for the Mountain Ash across the road, a few years ago we had at least 30 of them perched on our roof
  7. I'm off to see if I can get my Baader Solar filter on my 500mm lens

  12. They have been doing it for years, not sure that it does cause stress for them, but we should have plenty of info on them by now.
  13. There is a local ringing group operates at the reserve. Back in September the ringing group went over to Portugal for a weeks bird ringing, the one chap caught a Blackcap that he had ringed earlier that summer in the Midlands
  14. A bit of a mixture to end the year, a Water Rail, a Marsh Tit and a startled Heron ... I was stood on the other side of a hedge, as soon as the Heron came over the top of the hedge and saw me it slammed on the brakes and sped off in the opposite direction ... Happy New Year to you all
  15. Playing hide and seek with a Goldcrest They should get a little more obliging over the next few months.
  16. Not really the light was poor Saturday, yesterday the light was perfect and the little devils would not come out to a favourable position Managed this female yesterday feeding on seed heads

  18. Can't believe we don't have one of these for the festive period.
  19. Happy Christmas to you and Lou as well Managed one of these as well, in the reeds in front of one of the hides, I was waiting for a Water Rail and this flew in, a few minutes either way and it would have been in some decent sunshine.
  20. My nemesis Bullfinches, especially the male ones, really skittish. Still managed a couple this morning, a gentleman and his lady
