  11. You could be right, Jordi.....it isn't really that different enough, so it might fall between a rock and hard place. I can see breakers and b-boys rather than northern soulies going at it, but is it a tough enough departure? Totally agree with you though about steering a whole new audience to Lou's version........ And Nev, what if the kids scouring youtube had never heard of Lou Pride? Not everybody is as musically dedicated as a well-rounded soulie. Many comments I've read about the Mayer Hawthorne 'Maybe so...' over various forums, thought that his was the original, only to have been pleasantly surprised when they discovered the New Holidays OG......you can't expect the 'youth' to know who Lou Pride was so links like this can give us some hope, as a starting point at any rate.
  12. What it brings to the table is the same thing that Mayer Hawthorne did with his cover of the New Holidays 'Maybe so, maybe no'....I think the cover isn't really for the northern soul market, but more for the younger crowd that can access it. Check out the Mayer official video to get an idea of the age group I think the Lou cover is aimed at. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpfcydeSGeo And just check out how many youtube hits the Mayer vid has had....close to 2.5 million. If this cover of 'Comun' home....' can open younger ears up to the original, then it's all well and good, and has a place as a piece of music.
  13. Eddie Parker has already been done a coupla years back by Eldridge Gravy.....it was a give away 45 at the Emerald City Soul Club weekender 2010.
  14. Great....I'd be interested in a copy, f'sure.....dynamically, pretty good! And just as an edit, I'd play this to a specific crowd ie Funky Sole and suchlike, a more funky edge group....I wouldn't play it at a soul night.
  15. Broadcasting tomorrow, featuring cuts like; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6I43g6eCrRY

  21. Yes, the Rolyak is the mislabelled first pressing, with completely different more relaxed drums on the 'Hard times' cut....almost lazy. The Rolyat pressing has the drums replayed and are much more aggressive and as soulhawk says, pushed higher in the mix. You can hear both of them in this mix....spool through to check 'em out; https://www.mixcloud.com/gregbelson/divine-chord-gospel-show-pt-15/
  22. Please join us on dublab.com as we host the next installment of the Divine Chord Gospel Show radio broadcast scheduled for Wednesday 26th June 2013 at 2pm US PST (10pm UK time) https://dublab.com/ For pt. 25, I'm honoured to be able to share some of the records that my friend and fellow record collector Aaron Anderson had stored away in his amazing collection. After he tragically left this earth almost 2 years ago, his family graciously contacted me to curate his fantastic gospel crates, and here is a snapshot of what was found in those boxes. Every tune is jaw droppingly good, so please tune into this very special broadcast, dedicated to one of the most honest and fun-loving cats to have ever graced the record collecting game. For those of you that missed the last show, here's the mixcloud link; https://www.mixcloud.com/gregbelson/divine-chord-gospel-show-pt-24/ Please feel free to explore and subscribe to our youtube channel featuring some of the choicest 45's to be played on the show. There's over 100 cuts to choose from so check out some select tunes from our broadcasts. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/user/DivineChordGospel/videos?flow=grid&view=0 And following on from the gospel show, we head straight into the 2nd hour for 45's of Fury, so please join us for an uptempo session of obscure and heavy hitting original pressing 45's!
