A really cheapo LP by the O'jays,One of those £1.50 albums cant remember the label, but they had them on sale in garages and newsagents, The songs were "4 for the price of 1" and "I dig your act", Also R Dean Taylor "Theres a ghost",and another tune thats not really a Northern record called "Prisencolinensinsinainciusol", By Adriano Celantano,My sister heard them both at Bolton Palais, and bought the singles,I just put the two of them together, she told me it was Northern Soul,So I blame her
  2. My wifes mum runs The Staff Of Life at parkhills
  3. You live about half a mile from me,Bronte Ave near the top of Dumers lane, Small world aint it!! Not been to St Bernadettes,Don't get out that much nowadays,Drive a taxi, weekends = money for me, Grant
  4. Do you live in Radclifffe or to give it's real name Dog shit valley then? Lived there for years,I was born in Ainsworth, moved to Radcliffe in 68, Lived on Ulundi St,then moved to Countess Lane, We may know some of the same people?
  5. No I've gone upmarket now Bury Loooking at your name Is that you Rob
  6. Started about 74-75 Radcliffe youth club, Great looking guys,Pulling fantastic looking girls, dancing to some decent sounds(Casualeers etc.) Me all spotty shitty haircut and greasy skin, What am I doing wrong? I think to myself,Hence my introdution to Northern Soul, 6 months later standing in a line on Station Rd,Thinking how will I get home when they dont let me in!! 35 years later sat on my fat arse and talking about it to people I've never even seen let alone know, Now that's what I call music Grant
  7. 10. This record is only in this thread because of it's rarity,I totally agree, This record would be in other threads because it is a good record, This record could be classed a complete and utter classic sound because it is a good record, This record is disliked by many people because many DJ's have overplayed it,Because it has been requested, because it's a good record, No point in slagging of the tune,it would'nt get played if people did'nt want it to, The point Iam trying to make is It's YOU AND ME who made it popular,And many people new to "Northern Soul"Hear it and it grabs them by the short and curlies,And so they request it,again and again and again, Yes I agree with many of the other comment's it's a victim of it's own success, But we (mostly) made it that' And just to put the record straight Yes Iam fed up of hearing it KTF Grant
  11. Many thanks for the reply, Same for me really concerning substances, 20 Embassy used to get me through the night, and the odd cup of milky tea from the balcony bar Grant ktf
  12. No intention on my part at anytime to cause offence,Or to imply substance use, maybe my sense of humour as you say will have to work on it Thanks for your reply Grant
  13. Pulling down your kecks and having to hold them up at the same time from the bottoms to stop them getting pi**ed wet through wilst trying to wipe your ar*e on soaking wet bog roll
  14. No probs mate just when I read the comment it meant nowt to me so I would pressume you sent it to the wrong person Grant Ps This thread is "Unbeliveably Played At Wigan"
  15. Breakaway both vocal and instrumental versions were and always will be top Wigan records,Never in any way to be miss-heard as Glitter,What were you or are you on?, Was it a SOUL tune But that never stopped me or others dancing to it,and to this day, the inst. version is still in my top 10 KTF Grant
  16. I knew it was you with the Poncho, you've even turned it into a rug for the avatar But seriously it is quite difficult to remember were you have been on this site there are so many subjects in loads of different categories,I spend half an hour just trying to find what I've written,Then spend another half an hour trying to apologise for what I wrote the previous night after a shandy or two
  17. Got to reply to this one Ok,"I just called to say" is not the best Stevie Wonder song of all time,It was recorded as part of a movie soundtrack,"The woman in red" I think,Not on the top of my all time ten but it sold millions all over the world,That don't make it a good song tho I do agree, I thought Funky Stuff was crap and I still do,Celebration was a PURE DISCO record, and nothing more,If you were to ask Robert Bell which record gave him more pleasure (or dosh) I think Celebration would be his choice, Never liked The Human Zoo or 3 times a lady,I think the Commodores enjoyed 3 times a little bit more tho!!! Webby! mate these comments are a bit of a throwback to the discussions about LOVE or DISLIKE thread, As I stated then and do now,Not one artist releases a track hoping its a bummer, they might think they are but IT'S all down to making some dosh, But while we are at it "Get Down On It" was a shite Kool & the Gang record,But "Nothings To Good For My Baby" is for me a classic Stevie tune,A lot better than the likes of Masterblaster(jammin), It's all about the times of release and types of audience"buyers", If Stevie Wonder had released "I Just Called",in 68 it would have had a different backing track,The same for Celebration in 1977 it would have been a Mecca / New York disco tune Ah well thank god for free speach KTF Grant
  18. Have you replied to the right person??
  19. Thank's for you reply, I remember him really well, got talking about him a few day's ago with reference to this subject, and a few of my mates, thought it was Richard Searlings Poncho
  20. I remember Richard Searling dancing on stage behind the decks at Wigan, Either that or he was bursting for a pee, But then again when I think about it!! he was wearing his poncho at the time so we may never know
  21. Thunderbird 4, was and still is my all time bestest ever Thunderbird and could only ever be beaten by Captain Troy Tempest in "Stingray",That is if they had been in the same programme,But alas they were'nt,so I will have to agree that Gordon Tracey was indeed a knobhead,But correct me if I'm wrong what the heck as Thunderbird 4 got to do with Brainstorm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS7UEqO6gjc
  22. You get about a bit you Phil,

  24. Yep I agree with you, I did'nt in 76-77 though, To me they were New York Disco / Mecca tracks, And I at the time was an oldies 60's type of chap, still am at heart but,yes I have them
