I'm sure there was a small record shop further up the road from Sherwin's, next to a jewellers if I'm not mistaken that sold Northern Soul records, there was also "Sundown Records"? in the old arcade in Hanley that sold Northern too, (both were around in the 70's)

I used to go to the Top Rank on a Saturday morning with my mates too, only because I wasn't old enough to get in at any other time, I thought I was pretty cool as I was only 12 years old, we were some of the up and coming Northern Soulies and I feel quite proud I was there

I remember Whitchurch Civic, it must of been the same year as Hornet was there, I'm not entirely sure on the year maybe around 1979; heavy snow fell whilst we were in there and we ended up staying in a hotel for the night because we couldn't get home. well worth it though.
