Blue Lagoon Portsmouth
Many of the South Coast DJ's cut their teeth at the Blue Lagoon, funny at the time didnt see it as 'cutting edge' but hind sight is a wonderful thing & many of the records played at the BL went on to become very popular all over the UK, had many a happy night here, with you Theresa with many, many others, Jason, Colin, Sue, Lloyd, Julie, Woody, Steve C, Dave Abbott & loads n loads more............inc the woons, Ben Summers OMG you could go on forever, a young Shifty would hurtle down the motorway from Essex in the piss pouring rain, month after month & he DJ'd here now & again too, thats why I would always smile when the great unwashed would moan about him having not served his NS apprentiship......yeah he did & then some, bless him, our luck to have him tho', as many records that went on to become huge were first aired at the BL by him.............some great record deals went down here too, I remember buying Johnny Rogers here amongst many others...............fond memories Theresa. Give my regards to Justin. Best Wishes Russ

Does It Really Matter
As long as your feeling the groove & expressing yourself, who gives a damn, not sure where the only the best dancers danced at Wigan came from, certainly the best dancers tended to be at the front near the stage & it was a little little scary, cos there where some truly awesome dancers, the likes of which I have never seen since, unless you witnessed it, you cant even come close to imagining it, all to the beat, everything, tricks the lot.........there is no one I have seen in the past 15 - 20 years who can dance like that now........but for me personally, I wasnt intimidated by the dancers themselves at all, I just aspired to be able to get better, so I could dance up near the stage without feeling self conscious............when I was younger I could swing a fair old hoof, but never got any where near to the standard of the best........sooooo graceful too..............I would practice endlessly on the balcony in M's on that bit of hardboard, then go & throw me self around in the main room...........I remember at the Top of the World & Locarno Alldayers, I would spend the whole time, on the edge of the dancefloor, just kinda two stepping, waiting for the break to practice my spins for Wigan the next week !!!!!!!!!!! These days I dont think it matters.............feel the groove n let it move ya. Best Russ

..................forget it, its over, it wasnt fluffy it could be v.nasty, rose tinted specks methinks...........loved it at the time, fond memories, but its gone, gone, gone...............these people need to support a real soul scene............its very telling that many 'dont get it' & have turned into the very divs, that this scene spent a decade distancing itself from at all costs. What a shame............. Russ

We caught it on the TV tonite.............I just heard my 9 year old lad say to his Mum..............'I know that isnt what Dad does at the weekend, they were just them ones that cant forget Wigan arnt they'............OMG.............a wonderful moment, where even a 9 year old boy can see thru these 'jokers'.............to be honest it wouldnt of even warranted posting if it hadnt been for my lads insightful remark............out of the mouth of babes.................Im now waiting for someone to actually justify that fiasco...................& they'll be someone , absolutely guaranteed............... Thank you everyone for all of your help............it was really good to see you at the weekend Paul & altho' I was only there for the last hour it was awesome, the last hour from Tee was great & I danced for the entire set, making up for my abscence earlier...............feel slightly embarassed that I have missed MB entirely until recently.........to Mr C, you are deffo a closet Modern lover.........you & 'Disco' Dave had a blinder by all acounts & you were both dancing towards the end, maybe a slight change in direction musically .
