  1. A couple from a recent trip to Snowdonia doing the Cwm Llan Horseshoe :-) The first one is looking down on Glaslyn (the blue lake) and the second one is looking down on Llyn Lydaw
  2. Cheers Steve, that's what I thought but the markings can throw you a bit. Quite a few in the area then an eagle comes along and the buzzards shrink in size
  3. Trying to identify this raptor if you can help. Again, like the wild cat photo, not the greatest as it was a fair distance away and at first I thought it was an eagle but soon dismissed that. Looks like a buzzard, but is it a common one ? looking at my bird book the markings point to a rough legged one but one of the more expert birders may put me right :-) Taken in Ardamurchan, Scotland Cheers
  4. That's brilliant. I knew they had little ones instead of eggs but knew nothing else. Excellent stuff, cheers
  5. Yes Steve, the wild cats are very rare and ardamurchan is a last strong hold. Just wished I'd got a video or clearer photo. The adder was just lying on the path in the afternoon sun, may of just had a meal as it took it's time to move on.
  6. Ha. I've got one of then snorkles, the bees knees as you find yourself talking to yourself and the fish
  7. Not been on here for a bit. Was up in the Ardamurchan Peninsula of Scotland in May, Kilchoan to be exact, what a fantastic place that is as well, highly recommended if you like peace and quiet and wildlife. The first is two seals just of the shore, the second is what I was hoping is a true Scottish wild cat but it's not a conclusive photo as it was dusk and zoomed in a bit. It was on the drive way of the cottage we were staying at and even the wild cat society can't say 100% if it's a true one or a hybrid. We know what we saw though ;-) The third is a first for me and is an adder basking on the path we were walking on :-)
  8. Certainly is a great piece of engineering. We said we'd have to go back for trip on a boat and go on the lift.
  9. Anderton Boat lift complete with flying duck photo bombing :-). First time I have seen this, very impressive, the lift not the duck!!
  10. Another weekend in Snowdonia
  11. Great memories along with Windsford, Keele, Droylsden. For me, all at the right time as nowadays I'm lucky to get to a couple a year. Can't really comment on today's niter scene but yesterday was great. There are one or two from Keele knocking about on youtube, not sure about anywhere else but the memories wont go away.
  12. Had this little chap hanging round this morning. I think it's from a nest in next doors garden. I've seen them coming and going for quite a few weeks and the parent birds keep coming to my feeder for the fat balls. This young un sat and preened for about 15 minutes or so. A young Blackbird
  13. Steve Yes you're probably right. I was looking at the juvenile whinchat in my book. They all look the bloody same and in my defence I didn't have me specs on :-) Come to think about it, there was quite a few flitting about the area as well as a lot of sky larks.
  14. had a mooch around the Carneddau area of Snowdonia on Monday and came across my first swallow of the year as well as a Stonechat and what I think is a Whinchat, another first
  15. Two from Snowdonia. The first, part of the disused Rhossydd. Slate Quarry, the second, a panoramic of a distant Snowdon, the pointy "Welsh Matterhorn" - Cnicht & the Moelwyns. The third is of the Newlands Valley, carved out by a Glacier, in the Lake District
  16. Had a wander round Dunham Park on Saturday and apart from the Swan making a fuss it was quite peaceful
  17. First wasp of the year buzzing round the room where I was working today. A couple of pigeons trying to keep warm and dry in yesterday's rain while keeping their beady eye's on me :-)
  18. I think there's too many groups on FB full stop. Some are very good and quite relaxed and some have more rules, do's and don'ts that you can shake a stick at Glad you like my wanderings :-)
  19. A couple from a walk up Crinkle Crags and Bow Fell on Saturday. Despite the artic look it was surprisingly warm with very little wind
  20. Have got a Tiny-Pic and a photobucket account but never really use them now as most of my photo's go on FB. Used to use them for forums and to upload on here but that is now much easier do take them straight "out of the box" so to speak. Too much crap with photo bucket nowadays
  21. Yeh see them regularly as they fly over near to our house. I Believe there's 3 departures/arrivals a day now so getting a bit old hat I've been on a couple as well, awesome machines
  22. Cheers. I used to live near the airport and was always watching planes coming and going from the Bollin Valley. I remember seeing a plane called the GUPPY, a parts carrier I think but not sure if I've ever seen the Beluga. Looks mighty big according to youtube
  23. A Virgin Jumbo Jet and the Emirates A380 taking off today at Manchester Airport. A grey misty day so not very clear but awesome things when they go right over your head in touching distance
  24. Blimey, i held me breath forking out £250 for me Lumix TZ70!! I did get a bit knocked off for a price match though Great bird photo's
