  1. which one's which then?, had a listen to the soundfile on dave thorley's site and its the original slower version...the one on youtube is the faster version and the catalogue number reads 22422 or am i looking at the wrong number?
  2. each to his/her own...for me ( and if you think back to wigan 74/75 ) such an off-the-wall record that went against the grain of standard 100mph stompers, its stood the test of time and found its niche, helped by the onset of "crossover"...such an incessant funky groove amidst pleading lyrics...not instantly understandable to most of us, back in the day, when we were too busy dancing, but with time as with most things, we've come to appreciate a meaningful story and this delivers one.
  3. top quality tune....remember when des got first bunch of dave browns legit issue along with the other stuff mentioned here...honestly forgot how good it was until the relaunch of lowton...and the fact it must also be one of bob hinsley's favourite records as he constantly spins it...naturally, i had to aqquire it....again! and yes, i agree, that at some point its value is going to appreciate BECAUSE its legit and no-one has dared to boot it.
  4. thats astounding!...no known connection until you exposed it glyn...the session musicians on frantic escape though are still the funk brothers, aren't they?
  5. cheers andy, see you there.
  6. see this on here lots, varying prices so...want the 22422 uptempo issue, NOT the slower version...£40ish?
  7. agreed andy, awesome tune, gobsmacked when that "sort of" instrumental turned up on tim's auction a few months back, also on mos-ray...the strange world of northern soul eh?

what im trying to put across here, is, to all intents and purposes, an account of promoters flyers being removed from the actual promoters event whilst all "guest flyers" have been left alone. this has been relayed to me although i am unaware of who the perpetrators are at present...you always have to have conclusive proof before outing names and as im not the offended party, im not in the position to do that, but removing the promoters flyers from their actual venue is above cheek. if its about attempting to portray the gig as a "soul night" and not a northern soul night...in effect a handbaggers job...the people concerned are very much mistaken. it is a very well known venue run by a very well known dj and though its just as easy to brush it off as petulence, its still about an investment being abused. at present another theme of disrepute is rearing its head...that of venues "not being on" when infact they ARE...mischief making that has the potential to lose people a large sum of money, not just the promoter, but the venue owners also. this particular venue, most of you know, i and my partner help to run as you see me post it up on here every month and everyone concerned with the venture would like to know who keeps attempting to stick the knife in. a similar type of abuse happened quite frequently at prestwich during the early millenium when the fire brigade were called to the venue on a number of occasions, halting the gig....very funny?..NOT!, and certainly not for the attendees being turfed out unceremoniously. jealousy is probably inbred with some folk who cant tolerate seeing someone or something being so successful and they're not theirselves...they certainly dont endear theirselves to anybody though, through their actions...they only have to pick on the wrong type of person though and they will get their backsides kicked good and proper...so why come to venues they dont like, to carry out this sort of act, right under the promoters nose?
  9. try finding a canadian reissue with the edited version of lets go somewhere on the b-side....get your chequebook out for that one

bit of an ironic title as it refers to dumping stuff with no right to. promoters have overheads,...one of which is flyers, an integral part of the scene for many years now. its a method of spreading news about events. there's a good camaraderie between promoters/djs..i'll scratch your back, etc. we always see tables full of them and we get them at eye level, when they're blutacked on walls. not unusual to see this in toilets either. however they are, for no descernible reason, a target for petty jealousies...or so it would seem. LETS NOT FORGET, as i said, people are paying good money out of their own pockets to have them printed and removal and binning of such literature WITHOUT consent AT EVENTS, is downright dispicable, especially if its specific and all other product is left untouched. this IS happening so i have been informed, im not obliged to go into detail other than i am outlining this as an overview. whilst it may not be happening widescale and may only be sporadic, ITS STILL UNACCEPTABLE.
  11. have to say ian, never met the guy but even to me, his name is synonimous to the scene...shows how much his presence was felt, that he is remembered with such affection now.

  15. think we ought to have more record room lists on here, so more promoters get the gist of how many underated collectors there are out there who perhaps deserve a chance.

ive always wondered about that as well george, but i think you've nailed it with the oscillator...would definitely make that sort of sound...and yes, one of my favourite oldies as well and about time for a big reactivation...only problem is laying hands on a copy these days, very expensive tune. i have the soussan boot with the unissued instro on the b-side which is great but, "something about my baby" is pure class!!
