ok then what about this one and has it ever been un covered would like to know as I ain't heard this one in years. Mr searling used to play Mike Theodor Orchestra "Nightime Shadows" inst at the casino around 1978/79. He then sold or swopped it with Sam when he was DJing at the casino. I asked sam about it in the late 80's/90's and he couldn't remeber it at all ! he played it for ages covered up.then it disappeared Anybody any wiser ?- News: Sad News : William Morris - Invitations RIP

WILLIAM “BILLY” MORRIS I have just received news that original member of The Invitations William “Billy” Morris died last week age 66 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Baltimore MD Billy moved to Brooklyn as a young child Where he was later to meet the other members of The Invitations. He sang baritone on the all the classic Invitations records including “What’s wrong with you baby” and “Skiing in the snow” and on the later Silver Blue recordings “They say the girls crazy” & “Look on the good side” Billy toured with the Invitations in the UK during the mid 1960’s and was at the forefront of U.S. Soul Groups making the trip across the Atlantic to appear at clubs like The Golden Torch and The Twisted Wheel. The funeral will take place today (Monday 15th Nov.) in Brooklyn N Y our thoughts are with Billy’s family especially his wife Zan. Any messages of condolence may be sent to Zan Morris 988,Eastern Parkway, Apt. D1, BROOKLYN, NY 11213 U S A Rob Wigley- Only 'fabulous' Records On This Thread
Fabulous Downbeats "life goes on" Poison Ring or Fabulous Moonlighters (taking my love) For Granted" Blue Eagle I can never remember that record being played anywhere !?- Motown Lp Only Tracks
Its got to be THE VELVELETTES "THESE THING WILL KEEP ME LOVING YOU" with the different words ! I will be playing this to the Velvelettes personally on Friday at the Great yarmouth weekender bet they haven't heard it since they recorded the record ! Also bet the person who put the WRONG version on the compilation LP didn't even know he had done it ! Long live BUB and the TRACKY Club for always playing it!- Pete Lawson
the first time I came across Pete was via mail order in the NME offering Top sounds cica 1974 I think (pre-Black Echoes). i was after Billy Woods, candi staton and earnest mosley at the time .i sent for a list and you could choose 10 records for about £8. All the top sounds were on the list (Like seeing Butch's playlist now) So I sent off my Postal Orders to peter Lawson I got back a 12" Acetate with just one record I had ordered plus the other tracks which by then had been bootlegged ! I wrote a letter of complaint and after about a year I got a cheque back from pete's dad saying he was ill in Hospital, he was of course in the clink ! On his release I met Pete at Wigan and he became a lifelong friend too many stories to tell but my fav is when I had a copy of laura Greene Moonlight for sale in the record bar at wigan Pete is looking through my box and says "that used to be in me top 5 records of all time I had it tattooed on my chest" at this he takes off his shirt and low and behold it was there No 1 was Jerry Williams "If you asked me" Calla years later at Wigan i took a photo of Pete without his shirt on and you can read them. I will dig out the photo and post it! Anyone who attended pete's funeral will remember jerry Williams being played at the service, there are not many day's that go by without Pete's name cropping up and it took ages before I got used to going into a nighter and not hearing the Scouse tones of his usual greeting "Allright Rob" A true friend and a Diamond of a bloke. - Longest Cover Up 45 Going
