  1. It's like living in nazi Germany here, this non smoking law is fascist. They should have banned it in restaurants, cinemas, buses etc etc but to ban cigarettes from pubs, they might as well ban alcoholic drinks. Who voted for this law, I certainly didn't. And I'm only a part time smoker, but the way this government is stripping away everyones rights, and we're letting them, is very very worrying
  2. The final insult, run over by a waterproof Thomas The Tank Engine
  3. Following the hammer attack, the knives were out for Carstairs
  4. Not to worry, I have managed to recreate the original but using a childs plastic hammer instead of the real thing.

No I know what you mean, for instance that Al Scott demo, 2/3 known copies but thats because they are only known TO US, nobody has the authority to say there are no more.
  6. Don't suppose anyone has a copy of the original photo that went with this thread have they? It involved a hammer.

I hate it when people say there's only2 copies or 3 copies of something unless they can actually prove it. Who knows how many copies are in the hands of 'silent' collectors? These people did not press up quantities of 2, 3 copies unless they were for test pressings...they'd press 100, 200, 500, 1000. If you really want a 1 off or 2 off, try the acetates that Mangoman is selling...you'll get a real exclsuive for yourself there. I was talking to Tedsoul the other day and we both agreed that more or less every rare record has appeared on ebay...one that hasn't is Norma Jenkins - Airplane Song. Shit record but must be incredibly rare.

It's nice but because of what it is and how many copies it sold, it's not gonna be worth anything - £20 tops

I sold a hairline-cracked copy of Mr Lucky last year for £2500 (if anyone says it was less they are telling porkies) and I have to say having heard it, quality wise it sounds worth about 10p. So does that Elipses. Well 5p in thr case of that one.

Oh dear, you go on about The mellow Souls having everything you need in a northern record than slag off one thats even better, this has got the lot, especially that fantastic intro and the break towards the end. And if it's true that this is the guy who was in the O'Jays - can't really say he's a non-singer surely
  12. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Most of the copies found were waterdamaged I believe

When records got booted, Pep often used to sell his originals at Wigan, I was with him when he sold his Billy Woods, can't remember exactly how much, 50 quid or so possibly
  15. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
I've never had one of those either, always wanted one
  16. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Thought Andy Rix might have had this cos I've got it on a cd which I thought were his records
  17. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Court Davis can't be that rare cos I've had 2 copies!
  18. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
I thought it was JM who bought it (sorry didn't see previous replies to this!)
  19. Ending in about 4 or 5 hours mainly - stuff like Jackie Lee, Derc Hotzog, Rain, Johnnie Mae Matthews, 100 club anniversary 45's, Dean Parrish, Marvin Gaye etc and a 250 title job lot! https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZmayfair...1QQfsooZ1QQrdZ0?

Whats the Connie Stevens like Dazz, I've never even heard of it
  21. What's the big deal, I've got all of those
  22. Every remaining record has now been reduced, cheers.
  23. Haven't got the scanner connected but I put a photo of it on ebay
  24. Mel - it's 33 years later - does it really matter that I don't like The Carstairs?
  25. Those records that you quote are terrible records. But so is The Montclairs in my opinion, it's a messy ragbag of a record. Having said that, I love Hey You Don't Fight It and wait For me (if it's the same group) but that mid 70's sound to me is like fingers being scratched down a blackboard and for every hawaii 5 0 you throw into the argument about Wigan = pop I'll throw you back an Inspirations or a Lou Pride. If you read back over the Black Music magazine of the time - or the 20 odd page article I wrote about it which is still up on the web somewhere - you'll find that your statement is totally wrong and most people didn't agree with the playing of that type of record. Meanwhile if you say something like Bobby Franklin - Ladies Choice - I love that - Towaway Zone - fantastic - Mel britt etc, love all those
