  1. Says "To my sweet, adorable, lovable wonderful cousin, from her crazy cousin Holly St James"
  2. Here's another strange thing I got this week: Johnny Soul & The Manchesters - Wait - Dome Records SR 4012. I on,y bought it because I clocked the names of some of the people bidding on it and sniped them and it was in the wrong section, anyway it's a beat ballad thing, obviously white, muddy production but it's got that kind of weird factor which makes you think it just might have something. I'd guess late 60's/early 70s as it's stereo. Just wonder if it was known...certainly a weird track.
  3. Call a spade a spade right? p.s. I wasn't commenting on your record
  4. Yep, always been around that price, fantastic record but not rare
  5. Like 'that record is shite' for instance
  6. Also Robert Neal at £150! Both those Port 45's are around in quantity, unplayed, or will I be in trouble for saying that?
  7. Thats MISTER Sock Boy to you, reptile
  8. Don't bother, it's terrible sound quality!
  9. Going by the tracks, those were done Stafford-era, still collectable titles, it's all part of the scene - sod ethics, a lot of people would love to be able to play these, in or out. Tell you what, 3 years ago I was getting a lot of acetates cut for myself and I sold them in the end, there must have been 15 double siders with things like cheating kind, ray agee, that sort of stuff - I sold the lot to a someone who is considered a 'big name dj' and theres no doubt he played them out before tracking down the originals. You probably wouldn't believe me if I told you who it was.
  10. No but it makes me wonder why you carry a bog roll wherever you go...
  11. I bought this the other day, blind - how much should I ask for it and does anyone want it? Books at £400 in you know what but thats out the window
  12. Never heard of it - over $100 at the moment on "E" Bay

There's two versions of it on that CD; the first is the one that came out on Phil LA of Soul except it's a lot longer (as are the versions of Girl across the street, The jokes on you, Diem on D9, This gets to me etc)...then they use an unissued take which sounds nothing like the first version. Both of them sound to me like early 60's recordings. Brilliant track though eh
  14. Mike you didn't make a copy of that bonnie herman pic sleeve did you - she was gorgeous!!

  19. I've obviously not changed it Gene sorry, I've had a list out 6 weeks on the trot now, not bad either even if I say so myself....I'm going to delete the above posting now you've had a laugh at it by the way
  20. Don't know about Jr Wells - written by Mel London if thats any help...typical Chicago blues, piano backing...I doubt very much Tiny Powell was English, you're probably thinking of his long lost cousin, Enoch.
  21. Any of these ring any bells junior wells - little by little - profile carter bros - do the watusi - celeste leroy washington - my true life - excello cc curtis - please let me know - wink tiny powell - take me with you - wax stonie martin - try your luck on me - rich tom jones - trying to get my grits - symbol
  22. Probably not but thought I'd mention it anyway. I guess many of you will now a tremendous beat ballad on Mala by Richard Simmons called 'Brother where are you'? I found another version this weekend, by Oscar Brown Jr on Fontana. Produced by Curtis Mayfield. This is obviously the original version as Brown wrote it, just wondered if it was known at all? Also a couple of other lesser known or unknown things, Big daddy Simpson - Give me back my ring - Mpac (crunching uptempo r&b dancer) Johnn Adams - Who's gonna love you - Ric (r & Buster Brown - Trying to learn how to love you - Gwenn (R & both sides of this are good Rob Robinson - Lonely little girl - Fantasy (beat ballad) don't think this label is anything to do with the well known fantasy label, it's maroon, very early 60's?
