Various Ramblings On The Topic Of Sandy Golden
I'm not "dissing" the Sandy Golden Nev, I like it, both sides, I just don't think it's got whatever it is that takes a record to the highest level though - it's another of those where if it were a fiver...I think both sides start out superbly then just go off the boil

What Do You Do With Your Record Collection, Play It Or Just Store It?
Can you imagine the weight of those? I once bought 1500 albums off this old bloke just to get 200 singles, I lived in a 3rd floor flat and honestly after I'd carried maybe 6 or 700, I just put the rest back in the van and dumped them down the tip. I mean obviously as I was chucking them I kept anything that was of any use (mainly Elvis!) but I couldn't take any more lifting

Yeah but it's a different song to the Sweets, why would you but The Sweets if you wanted Sandy Golden, that's like saying you want Moonlight Music And You but can't get it so you're buying What Shall I Do instead.

Rpm Generation
Yeah when I showed it to one 'top dealer' he'd never seen it before. I think maybe it came out locally, wherever the show was broadcast from maybe, and then picked up for wider distribution. I never knew that sleeve you've even existed. Wonder if the label issued anything else. Also, is it from the early 70's?

did you find the website? I was going to send you the link then I realised. I haven't got it anymore!

Template For Printing 7" Labels

You probably haven't even heard it...

I mean it's not mega expensive but £30 to £40 maybe for a demo. I remember getting the demo with the MGM distribution logo, no one had seen it before, straight up. SO the issue with the MGM logo must be very rare.

Maybe not to you but it's my opinion so it is either here nor there. Weaker side my arse

Various Ramblings On The Topic Of Sandy Golden
What they've done is taken the basic backing track from The Sweets "There's Something About My Baby" and overdubbed instruments onto it.

It's one of those 'nice memory' type things. But it is ridiculously cheap Phil.

Record Collections - Sell Now Before The Market Drops
I'm a record dealer and I'm not worried. I'm facing up to reality so at least when it happens I'll be prepared.

Various Ramblings On The Topic Of Sandy Golden
As I say, two pleasant sides, nothing special, the original Sweets track is ten times better anyway.

Various Ramblings On The Topic Of Sandy Golden
I still wouldn't bet on that though, people only know about the play out copies, I wouldn't have known about the one I mentioned had she not told me, doesn't play out or brag about it..I remember when there were only a handful of 'known' copies of Court Davis, I bought one off a rockabilly collector, totally off the radar. People were saying well there's only half a dozen but they were wrong...as for the record...I've said this before, I think this is a 70's release because you can hear synth overdubs on it. Two nice sides, nothing special.

I'll have some of whatever he's smoking...

Various Ramblings On The Topic Of Sandy Golden
You can't make statements like that, how do you know who's got it - I know a lady collector (there are some serious ones) in Cheshire who has it. You'd be surprised how many have these things but don't brag about it.

Record Collections - Sell Now Before The Market Drops
You keep missing the point. Nobody's saying your vinyl is going to become worthless. I'm saying the market for NORTHERN SOUL RECORDS will shrink as time progresses for obvious reasons. i.e. most of us will be dead or not far off it

Raise A Pint For Mrs. Vespa
That's a great thing you're doing. Never heard of the people but I'll be happy to send a $5 donation. I think you may be disappointed in the price you get for your Dee Edwards though, I sold one 2 weeks ago and it was at half the book price, I doubt if anyone's ever got near that price with it.

Record Collections - Sell Now Before The Market Drops
It was me who started this and I'm not doom mongering, I'm talking sense. Let's say I live for another 10 years, then I die and leave my records to my then 17 year old son, he's going to say wow thanks Dad what am I meant to do with these? We are getting older and there are too few people coming onto the scene to replace us, and many of these people are from the digital age and only go for the music anyway, not for the collecting side of it. I'm not saying record collecting will die out, it never will, but there is sure to be a massive excess of Northern Soul records which nobody wants in the coming years.
