  7. KINGSTON SCORCHER! ORIGINAL JAMAICA SKA https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/26042 Here comes an incredible shower of Jamaica Ska music recorded between the years 1963 to 1965, some real belters, dominated by the brilliant instrumental sounds of The Skatalites and The Supersonics. The fact that instrumentals dominate is probably down to my record collection rather than there being a lack of good ska vocal tracks; of course, there are hundreds - except I don't have many! And let's not forget the fantastic foundation DJ's who led the way for many to come with their vocal tricks and encouragements, Sir Lord Comic, Count Machuki and King Sporty all appear here. P.S. Regular listeners will probably be surprised at the lack of surface noise on most of the records - well this is because I sold all my UK originals, many of which were severely battered, and replaced them with shiny new Jamaican represses. Anyway, please enjoy this selection and remember you can find all previous podcasts in the iTunes store, search under PLANET RECORDS RADIO. Fascinated to see the Vivian Goldman record on there but doubt if you'll find one on this particular forum. Recorded during the PIL Metal Box sessions with Lydon & Wobble. Love it.

  10. The other night I was going through a load of old dvd's and found one called "Incredibly Strange Films presents Tripe X Trailers' so I thought this might be a laugh, anyway I put it on and this music came on and I thought, that sounds familar, turns out it was The Right Kind by The Jaybirds (UK Sue) but with a male vocal! I didn't know one existed, does anyone know who it is and on what label?

And Ady's set, and Mick H's - I had that Baby Don't You Weep years before they officially released it and I didn't do a single copy, nor of anyone else's tracks either

Sorry never meant to insinuate it was yourself, everyone knows it was Gavin and he doesn't care anyway.
  13. Yeah that has the duet version but for some reason, the bootleggers extended the intro and it sounds very amateurish. Julian Covey on the B side I think.
  14. I'm sure I copyrighted that quip a couple of years ago

Trouble is, dub plate was the name given to an acetate by Jamaican sound systems, so dub plates are in fact Emidiscs. Well acetates anyway. Or rather they were, before 'carvers' came along. I used to get all my old acetates cut at Jah Tubbys Studio (JTS)

Sorry Ady, I forgot, there of course was NO campaign against Ian levine and the Rocket masterminded by The Dome. I made it all up.
  17. Amen to that, well said.
  18. Yeah thats cause it's not out yet and nobodys seen it...

I read it and straight away knew what it was, the description was not misleading at all, I was just amazed at the price it was at. Tough shit if people can't read properly.

Whatever - it's a long time ago now.
  21. Don't tell people what they can like and what they can't Paul, if someone watches it and decides it deserves an 8 it's got f*ck all to do with you, and when I see it and rate it you won't be telling me I know nothing about films having just desposed of a collection of over a thousand titles an seen thousands more. God, the arrogance, I'm surprised at you.

It was when the original promoters of The Rocket had their venue scuppered by the rest of the London soulies, who then took over the venue, and the original promoters recorded all the dj sets as a kind of revenge and then gave them to friends.
