Kingston Scorcher! - Original Jamaica Ska
KINGSTON SCORCHER! ORIGINAL JAMAICA SKA https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/26042 Here comes an incredible shower of Jamaica Ska music recorded between the years 1963 to 1965, some real belters, dominated by the brilliant instrumental sounds of The Skatalites and The Supersonics. The fact that instrumentals dominate is probably down to my record collection rather than there being a lack of good ska vocal tracks; of course, there are hundreds - except I don't have many! And let's not forget the fantastic foundation DJ's who led the way for many to come with their vocal tricks and encouragements, Sir Lord Comic, Count Machuki and King Sporty all appear here. P.S. Regular listeners will probably be surprised at the lack of surface noise on most of the records - well this is because I sold all my UK originals, many of which were severely battered, and replaced them with shiny new Jamaican represses. Anyway, please enjoy this selection and remember you can find all previous podcasts in the iTunes store, search under PLANET RECORDS RADIO. TOMMY McCOOK & THE SUPERSONICS - Goldfinger (Treasure Isle) / BUSTER'S ALL STARS - Cast Your Fate (Blue Beat) / THE WAILERS - Hooligans (Studio One) / THE SKATALITES - Four Seasons Of The Year (Giant) / BYRON LEE & THE DRAGONAIRES - Frankenstein (Soul) / THE WAILERS - Put It On (Island) / SLIM SMITH & PRINCE BUSTER - The Prophet (Voice Of The People) / BABA BROOKS - Duck Soup (Treasure Isle) / THE SKATALITES - Dick Tracy (Island) / LORD CREATOR - Don't Stay Out Late (Randys) / TOMMY McCOOK - Rocket Ship (Treasure Isle) / THE RULERS - Copasetic (Rio) / BABA BROOKS - Alcatraz (Treasure Isle) / JACKIE OPEL - Old Rocking Chair (Coxsone) / SHENLEY DUFFUS - Rukumbine (Treasure Isle) / BUSTER'S ALL STARS - Jet 707 (Blue Beat) / BABA BROOKS - Teenage Ska (Treasure Isle) / JIMMY CLIFF - One Eyed Jacks (Island) / THE HEPTONES - Gunmen Coming To Town (Hep Hep) / DON DRUMMOND - Dragon Weapon (Beverley's) / THE SKATALITES - Lon Chaney (King Edwards) / THE MAYTALS - Dog War (Beverley's) / ERIC MONTY MORRIS - Humpty Dumpty (Blue Beat) / THE SKATALITES - Ball Of Fire (Studio One) / THE GAYLADS - Message To My Girl (Coxsone) / BABA BROOKS - Vitamin A (Treasure Isle) / ERIC MONTY MORRIS - Solomon Gundie (Treasure Isle) / THE SKATALITES - Lawless Street (Tuneco) / SHENLEY DUFFUS - I'm A Lonely Boy .

Fascinated to see the Vivian Goldman record on there but doubt if you'll find one on this particular forum. Recorded during the PIL Metal Box sessions with Lydon & Wobble. Love it.

Male Vocal Of The Jaybirds 'the Right Kind'
The other night I was going through a load of old dvd's and found one called "Incredibly Strange Films presents Tripe X Trailers' so I thought this might be a laugh, anyway I put it on and this music came on and I thought, that sounds familar, turns out it was The Right Kind by The Jaybirds (UK Sue) but with a male vocal! I didn't know one existed, does anyone know who it is and on what label?

£342 For A Carver
And Ady's set, and Mick H's - I had that Baby Don't You Weep years before they officially released it and I didn't do a single copy, nor of anyone else's tracks either

Sorry never meant to insinuate it was yourself, everyone knows it was Gavin and he doesn't care anyway.
-
Jackie Edwards - I Feel So Bad Island
Yeah that has the duet version but for some reason, the bootleggers extended the intro and it sounds very amateurish. Julian Covey on the B side I think.

Soulboy - The Movie. You've Seen It So . .
I'm sure I copyrighted that quip a couple of years ago

Trouble is, dub plate was the name given to an acetate by Jamaican sound systems, so dub plates are in fact Emidiscs. Well acetates anyway. Or rather they were, before 'carvers' came along. I used to get all my old acetates cut at Jah Tubbys Studio (JTS)

Sorry Ady, I forgot, there of course was NO campaign against Ian levine and the Rocket masterminded by The Dome. I made it all up.

Soulboy - The Movie. You've Seen It So . .
Don't tell people what they can like and what they can't Paul, if someone watches it and decides it deserves an 8 it's got f*ck all to do with you, and when I see it and rate it you won't be telling me I know nothing about films having just desposed of a collection of over a thousand titles an seen thousands more. God, the arrogance, I'm surprised at you.

£342 For A Carver
It was when the original promoters of The Rocket had their venue scuppered by the rest of the London soulies, who then took over the venue, and the original promoters recorded all the dj sets as a kind of revenge and then gave them to friends.
