  1. A lot better than he was at Glastonbury last year!
  2. I thought it was free on the iphone...it'd better be!
  3. I think you're right about it having to be on cd. Good though, and I was genuinely surprised when it found it.
  4. I'm sure Mike mentioned this about 2 years ago on Soul Source but there's a program called Shazam for your mobile or iphone and if you can't recognise a piece of music, you play it down the phone and it finds out what it is - yeah right I thought. So I found a record for sale with no details given https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NORTHERN-SOUL-60s-C-...3%3A10|294%3A50 then I listened, I couldn't identify it, so I played it into the Shazam program and it got it in 10 seconds! 5. Please note this is a SET SALE list, anyone making offers will be ignored

  7. You make me laugh Tony, I sat and watched it and saw that Traffic single with the catalogue number 6002 described as the first release and I thought to myself, I bet Tony Rounce spots that as well as me!

    Please. Not again.
  9. Well I never actually advertised a demo for sale did I? If I had, I'd have honoured it, five quid or not.
  10. It's Dutch Mark. Never even heard of it, let alone seen it before. Wonder if it had a pic sleeve...

But the man is selling records for a living so therefore it makes sense that he advertises what he's got by making sound clips available for people to listen to - and of course it should be 100% free because he's trying to sell you these things so why should the customer have to pay for it? On the other hand, if you use the site to check prices, labels, catalogue numbers, price comparisons etc, then I do think it's acceptable to charge something for this, but it should be just that - a subscribeable resource facility. Though I also understand Dave's point.
  12. Meant to tell you something that made me laugh, I found an old issue of a mag I wrote circa 1992, Beatin Rhythm issue 6 I think it was, and I was reviewing some old fanzines and there was one, I'm sure it was called Talk Of The North and it went something like "there's contributions from DJ Frank the only purpose of which seems to be to tell us how many women he's shagged"

They also did a Stateside revival at Wigan, it was a friday night, I couldn't find anyone else to go with and I remember getting my ticket at Wolverhampton station and thinking, sod this, I don't want to go all night tonight, come home then go up again the next evening, so they gave me the money back on the ticket and I went home. Thats all I can tell you about the Stateside Revival night
  14. Yeah I think so too. I think this may be the start of an avalanche of British for sale from me, if I flog these then there's not much point carrying on collecting, and I really need a new car!
  15. I'm with you too, can't stand the song anyway, by anyone. Levi Stubbs has one of the greatest voice in musical history but you can't polish a turd.
  16. If you were selling these to a mate - what would be a fair price do you think? All are UK labels. chubby checker - you just don't know - cameo parkway issue ex dennis dell - better use your head - cbs issue ex chapter five - you can't mean it - cbs issue vg lynne randell - stranger in my arms - cbs issue ex solomon king - this beautiful day - columbia issue ex ray merrell - tears of joy - jayboy issue ex april stevens - wanting you - mgm demo vg+ danny white - keep my woman home - sue vg bear in mind I wouldn't be going for ebay or auction prices, just proper sensible values could do with some help, it's a tricky one seeing as it's my best mate
  17. Only just over the border in Carno...it was so hot I even took my shirt off at one point, but that was to go in the swimming pool!
  18. Enjoyed the program but yet again, it was so Marley-centric, anyone would think he invented reggae music.
  19. Best - Sold On Soul, compiled by R Searling, UNited Artists Worst - Solid Soul Sensations, compiled by I Levine, Pye. If thats what was played at the Mecca, thank God I only went to Wigan. Curtis Blandon, Luv Bugs, Sandy Waddy, pile of cack. No, take that back, worst - Stax Northern Disco Sounds, compiled by Ian Dewhirst, Stax - as I said before, the only Northern compilation with only 2 Northern tracks on it.

Give me a few days and I might be able to help
  21. I can't help myself, by a country mile. Ask The Lonely...prefer Ben Browns version! Not for the singing, which is average, but the arrangement is better.
  22. Last week when we were in Wales I had to sit outside the caravan to smoke, and so to kill time I graded every track on one of my ipods, it's an interesting fact that of 3 Nick Drake lp's, only one track got more than 2 stars. Every track exactly the same. I love his voice, and the mood of the songs, but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Also interesting that apparently the 3 best ever Jam tracks are "Ghosts", "The Bitterest Pill" and "Smithers Jones"!
