  1. OK thats the lot, anyone interested in anything let me know, or you are welcome to give any opinions or identify the tracks, just a bit of fun for a monday morning...
  2. A friend of mine sent me this package of records and I said I'd see what I could do, they range from brilliant to, erm, average let's say but there's a couple of crackers in here and maybe some potential biggies. There are also some sweet soul/deep soul type things. Anyway have a listen, you might like something, there's about 12 altogether so watch this space. Also, I wasn't sure whether he wanted me to reveal the artists or not so I'll just use the initials but some will already be known anyway. p.s. decided to put some names on p.p.s. sorry about the start of the Juicy Roy record, there was a bit of crap stuck in the grooves and I removed it but forgot to edit the sound sample
  3. Nor me - can't stand it - means absolutely nothing to me and it all sounds the same
  4. This is Mick Smith's copy Tony
  5. By strange coincidence - I actually posted up the Tony Scott track on wednesday!
  6. You might be surprised how easy it is to find a lot of the records still - not locally I mean, but on Ebay. Obviously many are now very rare but a lot of the big records from back then can still be bought for a fiver or a tenner. The catalogue sounds most intriguing, I bet they've listed The Volumes - I just can't help myself in there!
  7. 8. Yep two people have now told me this, strange it saying Bobby Bland though.
  9. I can keep it open for say 7 days?
  10. Yeah it does. People have made some offers now. I'll get back to everyone soon as I can, cheers.
  11. SCREAMIN' JAY HAWKINS - I PUT A SPELL ON YOU - DECCA VERSION
  12. Could everyone please stop asking me how much I want for them the idea is you make me an offer and I say no
  13. Interesting you mention Ortheia Barnes Malc, because this acetate has Mickays typed on the label. Is it the exact same cut?
  14. How in the name of all that is holy, can a copy of Scotts On Swingers be worth £350? I'd say that was £200 overpriced!
  15. Powerful version though Tone, what do you think...I actually thought the vocalist maybe white!
  16. Here's a nice selection of what are as far as I know, unreleased tracks on original acetates. If any did get a release, then I'm sure someone on here will know. I'll post them up one at a time all under this post.I would be looking for offers for these.
  17. Horace Faith - Black Pearl?
  18. Del, you buy or look through an old reggae collection and you will always find a Jim Reeves record - honestly!
  19. I've never understood why all of the promoters - let's just say there are 5 of them - don't get together and put on a really good do in a really good venue and make it a monthly packer like Goodyears and not be afraid to not book the same dj's as always.
  20. So should we ask ourselves - if he taken on the same room but played, I dunno, hip hop, or whatever is the most popular music of the day, would it have been packed? Probably yes. Northern Soul is enjoyed by a minority of people, but the majority of those are middle aged and just don't have the time, money or inclination any more.
  21. Yeah but Chalky, this is what I'm trying to say, people don't want to hear them - if they did, you'd get more than 10 or 20 people turn up. There just aren't enough people to go round and at least 75% of those people who go out on a friday or saturday night will want to hear records that they know. sorry I need to add a p.s. to this we all have good records that are underplayed and that we'd like other like-minded people to hear; however, the point I'm trying to make is, while some of us like this sort of event, the majority just aren't interested in opening their ears to anything that they don't already know, which is why (Bill) I was being so pessimistic because it has been that way for 20 years.
  22. BJD is a very early bootleg label
  23. That would have made sense had Jackie Opel been Jamaican...
