  3. There are venues out there that do aim to provide the quality of music I like and there is good music being played elsewhere, but it's in dribs and drabs at the majority of venues. Despite good music getting played, it still has a long way to go till it catches up with the quality of music that was being played in the late 80's and early 90s. Although a lot of that is probably due to the fact that there just isn't the amount of quality unknown records that there was I think that Joan has put her finger on the real problem with this post[see above]. It's the same conclusion that I'm coming to, and what caused me to question how long we can continue at Burnley [lookbacks thread] The last paragraph says it all....... Phil.
  4. I was looking to bid on a record on ebay the other week. The seller would not take paypal, but offered this method of payment....... www.moneybookers.com I didn't win the 45, so I never got chance to try it out...... What do you think? Should we all get together and shun paypal? Give this our business? I've only had a glance at the details, but it seems much cheaper than the 4% that paypal are charging..... Phil.
  5. Not my thing, only ever wore one.....when I was about 18... Here you go....these must be pretty rare....
  6. Who Were The Joneses ? I don't know but I'm sick of trying to keep up with them....... .....sorry.
  7. Just bringing this back to the fore. I have been trying to get some advice as to the best possible cart/stylus to use at my allnighter. It is a scary prospect that so many irriplacable 45's are played on my decks, and I want to ensure that they not only sound fantastic, but that they are being damaged as little as is humanly possible.......trouble is, you read posts like this, and you are more baffled than you were before you started. Everyone has an opinion, but they are all different. So who's right? I have emailed all the major manufacturers, and asked for their reccomendations.......only one has had the courtessy to reply. Shure. I'll be using these from now on. Thanks to Shure......

Steve mate, keep the Bobby is my baby for me will you. Bring it to Burnley if you're coming up.......Killa is after it. atb. Phil.
  13. also come with a lifetime guarantee This is a dangerous statment.....don't think this means your lifetime. I agree with Barry and Mark, but I just use the Stanton 500 carts, the styli cost around £20 each, and at that price I can afford to change them every 2 months. If you use a much more expensive cart, the styli's are also very expensive. Then the temptation will always be there to keep them in too long. I also have a pair of headshells set up with carts/styli ready as spares should anything go wrong. If you wanted to do that with say an Ortofon or Stanton Groovemaster, it would cost you a fortune. Phil.
  14. Betti Lou & Bobby Adams - Dr Truelove - TRA-X - EX 500 UKP Still a monstrous floor filling pounder !!!. WOW! BARGAIN!!!!!
  15. This is something that I take very seriously....the decks at Burnley are set up correctly, and the stylus on each deck renewed every second month without fail......like Mark said, we have the the best DJ's in the land as our guests, playing some of the rarest vinyl. You can't take chances with these wonderful vinyl gems......Same goes for cueing up [back winding] don't do it. Sure it sounds more proffessional, but I'd rather hear a bit of a gap between tunes than suffer sssssssssssss cue burn. Phil.
