  2. I remember the first Lifeline allnighter there. It was the first time I had managed to hear Butch Dj'ing after being recommended "you must see this guy" by Guy Hennigan. I even took my tape recorder to record his spot..............WOW! I don't think Butch has ever done a better set since that night, I was completely blown away. The place was rammed, that was a very special night indeed. The place was a dump, the dance floor was downright dangerous [i used to dance on my own on the little dancefloor in the other room] but it certainly had atmosphere.
  3. It's not gonna be, out of sight lovin' now is it? I would guess the stran?

  6. They're the same record, just different light making one look darker. Both are yellow demos. It's a different record because I can't find a scan of the hold on issue, because it's very rare.............
  7. Chalk and cheese when you see them together. That picture does look more orange than yellow, but difference can be seen here -
  8. No mate, that's the yellow demo which is very common.
  9. Has anyone else got or seen the Judy Freeman on an orange RCA issue? Another very rare one is Ernie King - Too Hot To Hold - Mercury, it's only available on the red issue as the demo has - That's When I Woke Up - on both sides. Great funky northern too.
  10. Try again Steve, it's definitely there around the one minute mark. I have made a note of checking every copy and every sound file I have come across.
  11. There is a sound fault on this record at approx 1.00 minute in. Sounds like the record skips, but it's the recording, so probably withdrawn for that reason. Milton James on Dore is another example. Three known copies? I saw a very rare record at Tim Brown's the other day - Judy Freeman - Hold on - RCA issue. Never seen it before, and was starting to think it didn't exist. Think he's going to auction it soon.

My all time favourite place. It was a different age then though. Word of mouth was all you had, I never realised it was open on other nights. We just went on a Friday, and into the Sounds first. We had no transport so it was bus or nothing. We had to walk five miles to catch the Manchester [white lady] double decker bus. Then as it stopped at Colne, Nelson and Burnley, more soul fans got on. Some nights there was a good crowd, other times just me and my mate. If we were very lucky Kenny Judson and his mate Roy something, can't remember now, would turn up and we could get a lift home in his blue Hillman Super Minx. Luxury.........

  20. Men have always been obsessive about their hobbies. Women very rarely get the chance to have hobbies. They are always working. I don't think it's very healthy to be obsessed with anything..............unfortunately I always have been.
  21. Tony and Tyrone - Please Operator - Atlantic £50 I would guess.
  22. That's because there's nowhere worth going to. Same old music, same old people, still taking drugs, talking shite. Politics and back biting. Yeh, I'm really missing it.
  23. Stop listening to it, and go out and dance to it. Perfect dance record that sounds totally different when played out. Problem is, it's been done to death like most of the great 45's. They don't make them anymore, so either keep playing the same stuff every week, or play lesser know records and kid yourself on that they are really great. It's all been done before............and most of us are too old and knackered to dance for any length of time.............that's why everyone wants to be a Dj. Problem is, most don't have any records to speak of, and even more don't have any taste. Rant over...........I feel much better now............... ............Carry on.
  24. Proper northern soul.............end of.
