Callum Quarton Discogs Seller?
Feedback is good but limited. I actually like the fact that it's so easy to see the status of an order and always update my sales.

Callum Quarton Discogs Seller?
Anyone on here know this person? I paid for a record on August 11th. Seller marked as payment received on August 12th. I've not received the record and it's not marked as dispatched. I contacted him yesterday to chase up but no response. Also, what happens with Discogs in these circumstances. I've opened a 'seller not responding' support request but it looks like at best he'll be suspended if he doesn't come up with the goods. Is that right? I guess I have to open a paypal claim too.

Sellers - Get A F*cking Grip
Well the Chocolate Syrup 45 has been listed for approximately the 50th time but it's now been reduced to £55. Grab a bargain someone... F*cking shameless.

Sellers - Get A F*cking Grip
My thought when I started the thread was that there only two possible explanations for this behaviour: either the sellers genuinely have no idea how much records are worth or they are deliberately and cynically over-pricing their records in the hope that some inexperienced/gullible person falls for it. Neither are the type of person you'd have confidence buying from, clearly. Also, I guess it's no surprise that there hasn't been an attempt to justify the practice by the guilty parties - who'd want to identify themselves with either of the above groups?

Sellers - Get A F*cking Grip
Me too. I don't sell that often but I don't necessarily want something for nothing. I can see that it might to complicated logistically to set up, but I imagine it would be a sensible investment that would pay for any set-up costs quite quickly. The whole forum isn't just about sales either, so hopefully the fees charged would reflect that and would be quite reasonable. I have to say though, that I've had a greater degree of satisfaction in both buying and selling on Soul Source than I have on ebay, discogs and any other site. Not that those are bad, just that it genuinely feels more like you're trading with people in a community on here. Just don't get me started on that so called 'hassle free' site though...

Sellers - Get A F*cking Grip
That's exactly what I intended by naming the two records in the original post.

Sellers - Get A F*cking Grip
I can't keep quiet about this any more. Don't people realise that the reason you can't sell records like that Chocolate Syrup 45 on Brown Dog or Lonette McKee on Sussex for £60 - and therefore have to keep re-listing them - is because they are all over the internet for £10 or much less? I don't know how other people think, but from my perspective it completely undermines the integrity of the seller: every time I see something stupidly over-priced like that I ignore the rest of their sales, and any subsequent sales posts, because I assume that if they have anything I'm interested in, I'll be able to get it at a fraction of the price from my first google search. As a sales strategy, it seems pretty flawed to me...

Marquis On Rainbow - Anyone Know How To Tell The Boot?
Thanks for your response Rob. I'll scan if I have time when I get home tonight - although I'll be packing for an exciting weekend away. It's got the same design as the original but has thin, flexible vinyl with a 'new' looking label though, so I'm pretty sure it will be a lookalike boot. It was the only 45 in the whole lot of 50s stuff that struck me as potentially iffy to be honest. Cheers! Paul

Marquis On Rainbow - Anyone Know How To Tell The Boot?
I picked up a load of doo-wop/rock n roll 45s a while ago. Almost all were originals but I wasn't sure about this one and I suspect it's a boot/repro. Any help much appreciated. The Marquis with Alfonse Brown and Tune Toppers - Popcorn Willie / I Don't Want Your Love - Rainbow 358 Cheers!

Dumb Question- Sound Of 45's
No, he's right. Soul records are horrible. As are funk, reggae, Latin, garage, R&B, rockabilly, jazz, gospel etc. It wasn't really until the 1980s and the likes of Stock Aitkin and Waterman that records started sounding half decent... Seriously though, there's a hell of a lot of difference between listening vinyl on an anywhere near reasonable turntable and listening to sh*tty compressed youtube files, for a start.

Micky Lee Lane : Your Mind
Granted the seller of the test press said that - but that's clearly a ridiculous claim as part of his sales ploy. I think I have to just get over the fact that some people have no other points of reference though: if I posted my Raleigh bikes flexi disc on here someone would comment on whether or not they'd dance to it at a soul night
