What did you pay for the Solid solution - as I got one recently as well- Favourite Major Lance
You missed my favourite- "Think" about the love we had- Great Record Hunting Stories Anyone?
Well Paulie - I was in your fair capitol city in November2004 and went into this record shop in Dublin next to the river. There were a couple of racks of 45s. I saw a copy of Eddie Holman- Stranded in a dream on what I thought was an Irish pressing 1Euro so I bought it then I found Friday Night- Johnnie Taylor and I asked the guy if these were Irish pressings- he said no there Australian. So i asked if he had any more 45s he said Yes in boxes downstairs-He bought a collection off an australian guy. - Gulp! my hands were rubbing with the thoughts of Gloria Scott or Marcia Hines or Doug Parkinson or even Lynne Randell but alas NO! But What I did get was australian copies of Personally- Bobby Paris(polydor)-There was a time- Gene Chandler(Coral)Funny How we change places-DeeDee Warwick(private stock) and about another 25 good soul/ northern tunes for 1 euro each-However looking in the last box (remember this was an australians collection) a US promo of Too late by Mandrill on Arista. Well its not the biggest find by any means but that night I made the Dublin Djs abit sick as they go in that shop every week they tell me. Well if Imissed anything they will have had it by now ! And the Guinness was great as well!- Very Naughty New Bootleg
Yes it is but their were 2 different versions by the Ohio Players. The One cut for the TRIP Lp and a very are test press cut for Compass label in the 60s. As for Brooklyn -Born I had some heated email exchanges with him some months ago re Frederick Hymes & Royal Esquires. If my memory serves me right he said they were licensed presses from the original label owner and that he made a flippant comment about which dealers in the UK he was supplying.- Happy New Year
Never seen a green Ernie andrews apart from myself on a Sunday Morning Hic! Anyone got one it would look nice with my issue- Wanted - Mayberry Movement
Hi Anyone got a copy of the Mayberry Movement- I can see him loving you on Event- Frank Wilson Find

Are you telling me DJs in England play reissues/Boots etc in thier set? We have a saying in Aberdeen as in the Film Leon "No Boots , Acetates or re-issues"- Not Played Anymore
The best record in the world - And richie says it sounds like my mothers records!- Happy New Year
Just amessage to all -happy new year & I am telling you its got to better than this one was (2004) Was going to Edingburgh tonight to a soul thing but will stay up in Aberdeen Might go to the thing on the 2nd Best wishes to all and thanks for the entertaining and informative chat, which brightened up my year in the last 3 months Cheers Steve- Sick Of Cover-ups- Why Do It?
No- but It was a means to stop bootlegging as well as trying to outdo other DJs- Sick Of Cover-ups- Why Do It?
I spent a whole day driving back from the Ritz with my mate spending considrable time telling me Butch has found another copy of the cover up he has and that everyone will clamber for it. If its that bloody rare then why keep it covered up. Someone who purcahses this will have spent a tidy sum and if its that rare then uncover it otherwise some bright spark will eventually find it and it could be soon and then the person who bought the cover up  will feel cheated. Cover ups in the 70s were more for stopping the bootleggers IMO but in the year 2004 surely we have grown up a bit. Yes Its ok to find new sounds but it feels like some DJs are treating their audiences as Children! (Sorry Ill put my dummy back in!)- Highs & Lows Of 2004
Agree about 2005- Off to New York for first time so that should be fun. Highs- Seeing my baby daughter growing up Lows- Having to fight a custody battle just to get to see her The Ritz on Boxing Day- dissapointed!- The Essence Of Northern
The adventurers- Easy Baby , As KR said in his book this is comin at yer like a train - And I couldnt get off!- Conspiracy?
Well I like this debate because you get a different perspective than the book which in IMO is half truth. I had a brief fling with pressing up 45s and it was rife and everyone including the cats bollocks was trying to do it. Mind you what Im more interested in is IF your handle is BIG BOY - then what were you doing at the back of the stage at Wigan with you know who!- It'll Never Be Over For Me
Did you hear that instrumental version of "Do I love YOU" on a recent MOD cd- God it is awful!- Honest Or Not So Honest Descriptions On Ebay
This ones apromo copy and is heavy vinyl and the label is Purple and white not Purple & silver. Hey if Petes got one I want it- only if it orig! Im going off to cry!boohoo!- Honest Or Not So Honest Descriptions On Ebay
Oh Crap- Looks like gruel on xmas day paid far too much for it. Says its £40 in JMs- Honest Or Not So Honest Descriptions On Ebay
Is it ok just to describe a record without any reference to Reissue or Boot or Iam not sure! being in the description for a 45. I bought I need you- Diane Jenkins of a guy in Uk off ebay - He just put Ineed you- Diane jenkins - Creative funk records with the grading I received it and went -"Hold on there" this does not look like an original. What do you think ! I knoe the story about the record being made up at Mr levines request after Tow away a zone but this really does not look right. MR manship does not list it in his bootleg guide , he does not have a "b" next to it in his price guide. I cannot make up my mind to send it back! Your advice would be most welcome- It'll Never Be Over For Me
Fair effort Pete- Still think, 8'oclock- Total eclipses is the best string/brass instrumental.- Oldies
It has to be - Fine young Girl - Ernie Andrews Remember Steve McWilliam from Blackpool having acopy that was burnt and made an awful noise as it went round . "Eyes so pretty and a dog gone pity that theres only one of her and she happens to be mine- Let me tell you shes Fine, Fine - Fine" Got my copy from Nancy who was in Sacramento at the time- She sent it to me as a present as I had split with the wife after 10 years of marriage but the record actually reminds me of Beverly Griffiths who was my girlfriend back in the 70s. - Wanted - Mayberry Movement
