  1. Larry Clinton - She's wanted - Dynamo. White demo. Crisp MINT- condition. Offers.
  2. When I used to collect British I found the biggest excitement was seeing them on demo format. The red & whites, green & whites, and those lovely rich yellow London demo's. Even now if I spot the flash of a big red 'A' in a sales box it sends a tingle down my back. But then I came up against a problem, Jimmy Thomas on black Parlophone issue was rarer. So I replaced the lovely green & white with a boring black issue. Same again with Carl Douglas on United Artists, the green & white got kicked out for a black issue. The weird thing was those two issues started to spoil what the collection was all about, or at least what it was all about for me, so I swapped them back for demo's. I would guess it would only be people that collect or collected British that would get what I'm saying ? Don't get me wrong, it's fascinating to see this Darrell Banks on an issue, like it was all those years ago when I first set eye on a Jimmy Thomas issue, but those London yellow demo's sure look pretty ! I'd better stop before I start collecting British again
  3. I'm closing offers on this one today. Thanks for all the interest. If you sent a pm & didn't get a reply please shout up. Here's a link to the original post. SOLD.
  4. The Phonetics - Just a boys dream / Don't let love get you down - TRUDEL. Offers over £1000. SOLD. Vinyl condition - plays spot on loud & clear, no hiss, no clicks, no pops, no warps. Only very light surface marks. Labels - It's weird, in real life on the boys dream side it looks perfect, but then when I took the photo with flash it shows an 'x' & mark. Flipside has a sticker tear. Please see attached photo's.

Wonder if it was the same 'old ladies loft' where the Melvin Davis & La Wanda Williams on Ke Ke's were ?

  8. Was that when he auctioned them via paper list, all done in alphabetical order Dave ? We had to bid with the top price we would pay & no follow up bid topping ? He had some nice records, I ended up with a mint Nabay, Duke Browner demo, etc. I can remember sitting looking at his latest list thinking what's going to be on the next one as I turned to my mate & asked him what comes after the letter 'P' ?
  9. This is such a shock, will really miss him Tony is the kind of fella that when you turn round & he's stood there you instantly smile because you know you're about to hear a silly joke. RIP mate Ady

  11. I'm closing offers tonight on The Magnetics white demo that I put up for offers the other day. Here's a link to the post & the pictures : If you can't pm me you can drop me an email at adypotts@hotmail.co.uk Thanks for all the interest & offers.
  12. Forgot to say, the demo is pressed on a lot thicker vinyl than the issue, same pressing plates just a lot thicker.
  13. This is a tricky one, I have an issue & a white demo of this one in my collection. Just seems a bit greedy ? Would guess the white demo would make more, so that may be the right one to part with ? So up for offers. MAGNETICS - COUNT THE DAYS / WHEN I'M WITH MY BABY - SABLE. White demo. Lots of light surface marks but does still retain plenty of gloss to the vinyl. Please click on the photo's to enlarge them.
  14. Thought I'd share this, some might find it interesting ? Years ago I was fortunate enough to end up with Billy Arnells copy of Tough Girl. This was via a third party so unfortunately I didn't get to meet him. Anyway, with the record came an interesting news paper cutting that he'd kept since the records release. Billy (real name Smith) was only 17 when Tough Girl came out. According to the news paper cutting the record was to be released as "Little Willie and the Sparkles" - Tough Girl B/W Little Baby. I can't do scans at the moment so I've attached a photo, hopefully it will enlarge when you click on it.
  15. Just be careful, on some copies the flip side plays really quiet !
  16. One ending tonight
  17. That's right Pete, the other side played lovely. Didn't cost him much did it, a bit of a bargain I seem to remember !
  18. I would guess the reason behind the Magnetics rarity was it would appear there was a bit of a pressing problem on some of the copies. When I got my copy the chap I purchased it from had got 2 copies. He already had one copy & had just managed to get Dennis Coffey's file copy that he'd kept since his input on the recording. The copy from Dennis, although in lovely visual condition, had some sound distortion. Not hiss or pops, but that sound distortion you get on some records where there was a pressing plant mess up. I listened to the copy that JM just auctioned & think I can hear it on that one. Anyway, I grabbed the one that played perfect. I was told the bootlegs were done from a tape of this copy (prior to me owning it). Since then I heard a tape recording of another copy & that had the sound distortion. It's weird how you can have a pressing run where some copies play perfect & some don't. That's the same problem on Gwen Owens -"Wanted & needed" on the 'loud press' where most copies jump. Most of the loud copies distort, but I did hear one copy that sounded pretty good. Re Mr Chadwicks 2 copies. Real copy & a boot to play out ? His had really bad needle hiss on the Lady in green side. That copy went via John Anderson to Hertfordshire.
  19. On hold. Thanks for all the interest.
  20. I would have thought you'd already have this one Ian ?
  21. Magnetics - Lady In Green. Original. Excellent condition, No warp. No cue burn. No hiss. No sound distortion. No pops, ticks or clicks, plays mint.
