  1. I dont think northern soul can be compared with property and art, property will always be in demand in an over populated world and thus increase in price, art for the most part are one offs and are hundreds of years old and will always appeal to the masses, whereas northern soul 45s will be worthless in say 20 years tops! I really cant see people falling over themselves for these records for much longer! And actually if you study the user names on ebay..jm’s..etc its the usual suspects buying them! Oooh i feel like ive just poked myself in the eye! i think if you can afford it,and you want it simply for the enjoyment of owning it,then bloody well have it! But as a long term investment, sorry but thats daft!
  2. The four voices i suppose on the grand scheme of things isnt surprising! But the carol anderson is a horrendous amount of money for that! Really does beggars belief!
  3. Whilst im a fan of the shrine output, and had many of the TOP ones! Whoever paid 3.2k for the enjoyables is a loon! It wasnt even a nice copy! How many times have we seen this at 700 quid and not moved! By far bottom of the shrine list along with jimmy armstrong linda and vistas and leroy taylor…oh and that pile of crap from the cavaliers! and to make it worse for the buyer, darren brown sold and ex copy today for 2k!
  4. Jesus mate your showing your cards a bit early thats a big offer for that! Im sure you will nail one for half that despite the appearence of over inflated auction prices! I will keep my eyes and ears open too!
  5. Also i agree that soulettes and four voices are equally as rare as each other, and both are top quality tunes, but the four voices is a much bigger seller and has much more dance floor appeal! Soulettes id image being in the 1500 quid mark and four voices in 2.5/3k mark!
  6. Its the same (exactly) as steve mancha-did my baby call? I wonder why it ended up on the bside of the professionals? Its not even the same label! Was steve mancha in the group i wonder?
  7. This is by no means my absolute fave ever! But a tune that is very different from the norm, love the structure, the girls backing, and his voice! And i would love the 45 too! But i certainly always regard this in my top 10!
  8. I reckon with some meticulous work i could make that go again!
  9. Id say more likely to have used a cd or boot soundfile, but with the real image! I agree mate
  10. Haha straight in there! We should be running a betting ring
  11. Just listed to auction,so another frenzy in the making! but my question is,john mentions the spilt second skip? What is this?
  12. Someone had to pose the question rich, and well done for taking the bullet very well said too! i think what happens is: it doesnt set a new value, but it certainly inflates it..so for example if montclairs hey you dont fight it was seen to be around the 1k mark on a normal day, then it sells on auction for 3.8k, no one realistically is gonna pay 3.8k on a set sale, but they may consider 2k on a set sale now! And thats all because a clown decides to pay a ridiculous amount caught up in the moment!
  13. Montclairs is the shocker in the end 3.8k WOW!
  14. This is a piece of class xover, but at the back end of xover at 1972,anything after this becomes “modern”
  15. For me xover is the change is sound leading out of the 60’s into 70’s,mainly the music itself, not the singing! But anything after say 1972 ish for me is “modern”
  16. Capitals is a shockingly hard record, especially on the never seen green issue! I sold my white demo a few years back,i wonder if you bought it from me?
  17. Great info and insight guys,as i suspected, mine was in all likeliness a boot of soughts! i also had at the same time a 6” audiodisc of patrice Holloway-for the love of mike, thats was probably fake too! since these two,ive stayed away from acetates! They arent worth the worry unless they have concrete provenience! thanks for your insights people!
  18. Sorry mate i dont have a pic, robbed it off popsike from when i sold it! i cant imagine there being 2 different labelled jobete acetates?
  19. Jm has listed an acetate of “lonely boy” on his auction, and it got me wondering about a copy i had and sold in 2004! Pic below! also mine had jimmy ruffin-gotta let you go,on the back on it! i suspect mine wasnt real? thoughts? Mine looks completely different to the one on jm’s
  20. Jesus wept…betty wilson, cracking tune, but nearly 3.5 bags the sy hightower looks like a reasonable price? Im not big on my xover, but compared to other shockers, this looks like a steal?
  21. I think i had your copy some years back? Of all the rare records ive had, this one is right up there with the impossibles! Especially the unicorn rare green issue!
  22. Id agree with you mate, 3.5k,and im basing that on the quality of the tune,it being mint, and it being moderately rare!
  23. £1264 for turley richards there really are some of the biggest divvys on this scene ive ever seen! Surely to god most of the pillocks paying these amounts come onto soul source and see these comments and think “s**t..i really am stupid”
  24. Ebay is cheap to sell on now! Only sell when you get the “one pound” seller fees promotion, which is often when you start listing regularly, ebay now pay direct into your bank account so NO paypal fees! however if you dont want the hassle of selling, drip feed handfuls at a time to derek mead at soulmine! He sells online and at events, aswell as his 2 record shops “soulmine” and “beatin rythym”He still does the old fashioned way of posting a list with a cd too, which helps to sell the cheap and lesser knowns!
  25. Go back to having memberships, that will cut out the chaf!
