Shower Soul
I like to listen to soul around the house. Vinyl & multi cd in the living room - Ray Charles (Currently) in the kitchen - Wigan Memories - in the bedroom*. Personal compilation cd's in the car and in the bathroom. It's the car and the bathroom where most of the singing along takes place and the one's I enjoy the most are the one's where I can get near the right vocal pitch and sound something like the tune that's playing (well, in my mind probably). Tunes I enjoy a good sing along to include Arthur Alexander - You better move on. Mark Loyd - When I'm gonna find her. Freddie Gorman - The day will come. Lenny O Henry - Mr Moonlight and B J Thomas - Baby cried, to name but a few. So what tunes make you sound good? Doesn't have to be soul necessarily but everyone has fave sing alongs right? *Wigan Memories - in the bedroom. Just like to ad a "yeah yeah" before this gets quoted out of context further down the line. If I get any replies on this thread that is.

Soul Deep 2
No it's a new series. But I've seen some similar footage before with his brother speaking etc. Think this was also on BBC not long ago remember missing the start and taping the rest.

Soul Deep 2
I thought it was great. Interesting listening to Solomon Burke talking about the inspiration behind 'Everybody needs somebody'. Sam Cooke's brother looks like him. Wonder what gems Sam would have come up with had he not been gunned down

Have You Got Real Soul In Ya Bones
I like Sixties/Northern/uptempo sounds & deep soul / ballads. Not really heard too many people refer to themselves as 'true Real Soul fans' in fairness, but I know what you mean. Anyone who likes the former, but not the latter is a rare beast first and foremost. They are not seeing all the colours of the spectrum. If however they did only like the former, bearing in mind the amount thats out there, that I think would be soul a plenty. To much dodgy modern disco, that's the thing to steer clear of.

Well you make some interesting points Dave. Bearing in mind your locale etc. General consensus seems to be that national dj's do not purposefully adapt their sets according to their geographical dispositions. Have to agree with Dave on 100 Club being fave venue. Twenty years in attendance, only missed one nighter in last six years and the best bit, it's on tonight and I'm going - wer ho!- Northern Northern Soul V
I refer the honourable gentleman to the statement I gave earlier- Northern Northern Soul V
Lighten. The term "north of Watford Gap" is an expression that has been around for donkey's. It's an expression Southerner's use to express fear of travelling North. Or at least lack of Knowledge on venturing anywhere remotely North. Think it's kind of last turn off from the south. https://www.stackridge.com/north_of_watford_gap.htm 1st 3 lines mate, says it all- Northern Northern Soul V
