Has Colin Curtis Sold His Collection?
Bloody hell, five pages over this? Almost all who care about format know what you get with most DJ's and venues these. Those that dont couldnt care less if vinyl, cd or mp3.

Handbaggers (P**s Heads)
No I said we'd only had one person thrown out at Lifeline in 8 years, not on the scene as a whole. I've seen quite a few incidents but then I've been seeing them since I started on the scene, trouble has always been around the scene. I do agree one incident is one too many and it's is up to the promoters to be more vigilant when in many cases once they have taken your money they couldn't care.

https://souldetective2.blogspot.com/2011/03/question-seven-tommy-young-no.html Above is the link to the page, it is about a single "No Explanation" by Tommy Young (Tommie Young), I've not listened yet but wondered if same record. There are a few references to Paul Kirk and the Kevin Knox company and to Kevin Knox.

The scan says everything with kevin Knox Ent indicates New York so would assume th group from there as well. Would assume it is the NY Jobette Office taking the action against Knox?

Handbaggers (P**s Heads)
I've heard of the one at Derby, oldies all-nighter, as far as I know that wasn't a p*ss head or handbagger. Maybe they should name them if there is a problem at certain venues then others will know other wise what is the point of the topic if you can't back it up?

Anton refers to upfront venues in the plural, like Mace I haven't seen this or heard of any such incidents except the one I referred to which in 8 years is nothing? I've seen very little in the way of people being thrown out. I'd like to know what venues Anton is referring to and where he has seen all these problems? Be them oldies or so called upfront.

Handbaggers (P**s Heads)
I was surprised too, I gave him the benefit of the doubt to start with but when dancers were forced to walk away and dance elsewhere and he moved on to another then he had to go.

Handbaggers (P**s Heads)
Don't get me wrong, I'd love a return to the days when you went to a local soul night then on to the alcohol free all-nighter at midnight but we have to face facts it will never happen.

Handbaggers (P**s Heads)
We have security at Lifeline who walk the room (they fully understand the scene and are pretty friendly as well, till you piss them off) and I spend a lot of the time on the balcony keeping an eye on the room. Wasn't that long ago had someone who was being a pest to the female dancers thrown out, he was a soulie as well.

But if you stayed away from somewhere that sold alcohol you'd have nowhere to go. The large majority drink without causing a problem and those that do cause a problem are usually non scene punters. I know I don't cause a problem or spill my beer on the dance floor, I don't take my beer with me when I do manage a dance.
-
Handbaggers (P**s Heads)
But by the same token many do want a drink.
-
Handbaggers (P**s Heads)
But that is up to the promoters to keep an eye on things and eject trouble makers. How many promoters are bothered about what is happening in the place, how many have security? Not many would be my guess.

Keep the off topic to a minimum please.

Handbaggers (P**s Heads)
It is bloody difficult as it is getting a venue to support a promoter, soon as most hear Northern Soul it's "thanks but no thanks" but to think you can get a venue without alcohol you are living with the fairies. Unless you book a village hall that probably doesn't have a venue then it would be nigh on impossible. It is where the venue owner makes his money, all they are bothered about is bar takings. The venue hire fee usually covers the owners costs for staff etc. It would be nice to go back to how it was in the 70's and 80's but it will never happen. I think if you asked most soulies and the were honest they enjoy a drink or three, I know I do on the rare occasions I get to have a drink. I missed the moose at Yarmuff

Well IMHO it is great Northern. We know it isn't Soul but thats not the point, it is as Nev rightly pointed out a dance scene that revolved around a beat as much as anything.
