Filming dance and getting a real continuity and authenticity, amongst the young dancers is a long complicated job and these IPSO guys, im afraid, didn't put the preperation in and lacked the knowledge and skills to achieve it. Hence the same old 'This is England' footage!

Didnt think you were mate. With Carla that was the first production and i used to show a film of young dancers on the screen dancing to it as the audience went out...with a scrolling text sayinf 'Still Keeping The Faith'. Again, i used it to show that the scene was still moving on and growing. BUT, for the narrative of the play itself, all the songs were in historical context....best Paul

I deliberately included Try My Love - Tony & The showmen on the cd Chalky not in the play! I did it cos i was sick of the boring, repetitive, same,old same old attitude on the scene and said it would have been played at Wigan, if they had found it. I ALSO< put that in the sleeve notes, so i did it with knowledge and deliberation, not out of ignorance. It was a statement that things should move on...Glad to clear that up for you. best P

BUT, i know that most foreign destinations have strict quality control and high standards, so it will be tough on the IPSO smugglers. Joan, that was playing to the "educated" ex-pat NS scene, truth is if we all lived in the UK most of the punters would be going to oldies nights.... The gig's where it is Australian's out to dance to some soul is a different story, they are more than happy to dance to what they don't know and Paul went down a treat.
