  1. Such sad news, one of lifes real characters, it was a pleasure and honour to have known him.
  2. Here's a post from the Golden Torch group on Facebook this week... Colin Curtis recently wrote... I was 16 years old it was 1968. My friend had pestered me to go to this club as they played the music I liked. I went alone as he was not available it was a wet wednesday night I was wearing a yellow jacket purple flared trousers and brown suede shoes ( Yes I was dedicated follower of fashion NOT ) . I went on the bus and then walked towards the club passed the busy chip shop and around the corner. THe throbbing of the muscal beat hit me straight away, i was soaked but didn't care the musical beat drew me in. I paid got a few funny looks and went to the downstairs bar, it wasnt busy but I didn't care. Chubby Checker Cum A La Be Stay, Flavor Sally Had A Party , Mitch Ryder Break Out , Billy Preston Billys Bag , Wynder K Frog Green Door, Sly & The Family Stone Dance To The Music , Homer Banks 60 Minutes Of Your Love , Charlie Rich Love Is After Me ,Bobby Wells Let's Copp A Groove , Arthur Conley Funky Street , Bill Cosby Little Ole Man etc I had entered the inside of my head ! I was already doing Soul nights at the local Mecca and Mobile gigs locally but this was different this was underground it was hidden it was dark. I got home to a roasting and grounding from my parents as I was late in with school the next day ! This didn't deter me I climbed out of the bedroom window to return the following night and walked the three and a half miles back to the club more appropriately dressed and I I turned in to Hose Street it was silent, I hadn't checked but soon realised that it was closed on a Thursday But I didn't care my friend Keith Minshull was right this place was special and it became even more so ! I had found my Soul Heaven !! It Was The Golden Torch !! Tunstall Stoke On Trent !!! What happened from then until 1973 is history now thanks to Keith Minshull & Chris Burton !! Join Colin as we pay homage to the sounds of The Torch on Saturday October 30th just a short trip up the M6 at the brilliant venue Culcheth Sports Club

  8. I have it on good authority that there are buyers, with disposable income and in some cases trades, waiting for these records to land...it's just business, good or bad depending on your viewpoint

  11. Happy BIrthday for the 29th Keith (same date as my Daughter) First bumped into Keith in the record bar at the Casino, (or should I say he 'bumped' into me and sent me flying) next thing I know he's on the stage DJ'ing, he did a great spot, so all was forgiven. One of our regular guests at the SAINTS club in St Helens and always did a great set. Last saw him at Alsager with Colin and look forward to seeing him at the Newcastle Tiffs Reunion in 2021. All the Best Keith, many more of 'em BazM
  12. Yes, Mate i'e had a few copies all played fine
  13. Quoted as being in Miami, then 'in transit' for an unusual length of time, checked every day, no change, then just turned up yesterday and tracking changed to delivered...still wating on records from different (well known) source that according to tracking has been 'in transit' since 22nd March, not panicing though, unusual circumstances and there's probably a backlog now....
  14. Records arrived from Carolina Soul yesterday that had been thru Miami and another that came via Los Angeles. Still waiting on a record that's been in Chicago mail hub since March 22nd, according to tracking update on that date is 'In Transit', with a Covid notice on it, so it looks like generally stuff getting thru albeit much slower and dependent on the route.
  15. Such sad news, my sincere condolences to Pat and the family, the scene is a poorer place today, he'll be missed by everyone who knew him. RIP Chico
  16. Gotta say last night ticked ALL the boxes for me, a very friendly crowd, happy smilin' faces a great mix of seniors and young 'uns all well into the music. And what about the music last night...TOP NOTCH from start to finish, quality oldies, current spins and a real good selection of rarer records, you have to travel to hear, I love it when I came away from a night having heard something great for the first time and there was a few of them last night. All the above makes it all worthwhile and always has done for me.
  17. Can't wait to hear the 'alt take' of this fabulous tune tonite...
  18. Revised DJ Running order for tonite... Baz, Bob, Les, Ian, Robbo, Carl and Maria, Mick, Jordan, Daz, Tony, Baz actual times will be posted at the event...
  19. Tomorrow Night , Dancers Delight...
  20. No Steve, he's right 😉 definitely the 'Right Man' 👍... great to have Tony joining us at Bury, some brilliant tunes in his box and there's not many with a better collection of 'Wigan' tunes, to my knowledge... And just an excuse to post a great record that'll definitely be getting a spin on Saturday
  21. Aim to start the proceedings as we plan to go on, with a mix of rare, underplayed as well as familiar... speakin' of which lovin' this again
  22. Times at the mo for Saturday looking like 9 Baz, 10 Bob, 11 Ian, 12 Carl and Maria, 1 Les, 2 Mick, 3 Daz, 4 Tony, 5 Jordan
