I know there are 2 versions of this both by Gerri Hall.I`ve just listened to the one thats just been on soul source,the one without the girl backing.It seemed to me to be a fraction slower.Is it just my ears or can anybody enlighten me with some info.Me personally I prefer the version with the girly backing.Also are the issue numbers any different. The girly backing version issue number is 905,with 174-1719 matrix no in the run out groove. Any clues sourcers Andy

I`m sure this thread has been done but I canny find it and it had me in kinks of laughter last time and would love to hear a few more of those inspired words of wisdom that our record spinners say.The last time this was up for topic one sourcer listed 5 or 6 things that have been said and what they actually mean.One was ---" And as requested " ( with or without fake name ). Real meaning ----I`ve been dying to play this for ages and even if it doesn`t go down well don`t really matter cause I`m such a kind hearted soul I`ve played it for you.So it`s your fault nobody likes it------Absolutely had me in stitches,cause I`ve said that on the odd occasion.So come on soulies I`d love to hear whether it`s your own wisdom or somebodys elses,remember it`s not a witch hunt just a bit of a laugh. best Andy

Pete and Sister Dawn thankyou so much for those wonderfull sound clips.I was never at the Casino I started goin to allnighters about a year after it closed and haven`t heard many taped nights from the Casino.It made me go week at the knees listening to the punters.WONDERFULL.,sort of puts things into context Northern Soul wise.

My only grumble is that " Helpless Baby " is too short could have done with another verse.

Ah Martin how you doin thank goodness it arrived eventually through my stupidness.I think your bang on with the issue being rarer.My mate Lenny Harkins raved about this record about 18/19 years ago I think Guy Hennigan put him on to it.I got that copy that you recieved not long after that.I used to play the`` helpless baby`` side at the Allanton allnighters just about as soon as I got that copy.Lenny always loved the grittier side.I heard the ``helpless baby`` side played a soul nite in Glasgow not long ago.So I must have been doin something right all those years ago.
