A few from yesterdays walk up the lane and back. Lots of Chiffchaffs about .. A Chiffchaff calls " chiff chaff, chiff chaff , chiff chaff. What other birds are named after their call ? .🙂. In order. Dunnock , they have a lovely song, then my first spot of a Willow Warbler this year from a distance. although Steve (Winsford Soul) had one in his garden 2 weeks ago !! They have a lovely gentle wistful descending call. one of the many sounds of summer , lastly a Chiffchaff .

I'm lucky enough to live right next to a quiet country lane that leads into a track. Most mornings, we go for a 45 minute walk as our excercise and I snap what i see without hanging around as that doesn't seem right given the current situation . Yesterday there was a Dunnock and a Chiffchaff and skylarks singing ,and theres some lovely old trees at the end of the lane too. Locally, today in Staffordshire.people are reporting sightings of Swallows, Housemartins, and Willow Warblers !

Great garden spot Ste !! we're thinking Chiffchaff. Darkish legs and bill, Willow Warblers are paler. Short primary feathers, Willow warblers have longer primary feathers. . But as you know, always hard to say . could be male, female, young, adult in which case the markings all vary ??

Not Had A Natter About Watches For A While
This is Sarahs 1940's art deco watch. Its an American Lord Elgin drivers watch . The side bars are so you wear it on the side of your arm so you can see it whilst holding the steering wheel . It's actually a mans watch, but watches were so small then that it now looks more of a ladies watch.

This is our local lane, we live off the end of this Lane and at the moment we have an hours walk in the morning from home to the end of the Lane and back as our "allowed daily excersise" Theres a pool at the end and a hidden Little Grebe was "whinnying" really loud from the reeds. Skylarks were singing , heard a Yellowhammer again , a Song Thrush was serenading us the most beautiful song, sparrows darting around in gangs. 😀. It all seems quite normal till you get back to reality . Apart from one dog walker , not a soul around surprisingly . Perhaps nature will thrive this year ? theyre not getting disturbed, and pollution is down . Heres two pics from this morning.

The Hedgehog is back !!! 😀 The hog came to our garden last year a few times and then stopped coming in November when they hibernate. Ive kept putting food and water out right through the winter as they come out of hibernation a few times to get food and water but he never came again till last night . So glad he survived 😀

As a lot of us will be home for the forseeable future , it's time to get some gardening done ! Its good for the soul . This is ours, all built in the 60s. Crazy paving, rockeries, and screen block walls . It was a complete jungle when we moved in but we're slowly getting on top of it . The birds love the shrubs, and we get thousands of bees in the Conteaster hedge. Show us your gardens folks ! .

That looks lovely Ste. You're lucky to have that many birds in your garden .Ours is an inherited garden that was built in the 1970s, screen block walls, etc. , One of the reasons why we bought it as we live in a timewarp lol! all overgrown when we moved in last year and tons of work to do but its a good place for the birds 😃 I will post a pic or two tomorrow .

Our local country lanes. We're avoiding any Nature reserves as people seem to be flocking to them the weekend. I got a great pic of the Dunnock 😀. The male Yellowhammer was about 80 yards away ,so not the sharpest pic with my little camera,at full zoom, but what a lovely bird if full Spring plumage ! And theres Sarah 😀
