Few Valuations Pls
- James Brown Rip
Only recently got a copy of Vicki Anderson "Wide Awake......" (thank you Bearsoul) what a record, can't stop playing it. Agree Mr Brown was a unique talent, would go so far as to say genius. Cheers Paul- James Brown Rip
Meant to quote Netspeaky too in my earlier post. Agree with every word and very well put mate. Once again RIP James Cheers Paul Woosnam- James Brown Rip
Yep remember that show well Billy. I've had the chance to see Mr Brown a couple of times in the last few years but have resisted, wanting to keep my memories of him as that night. Think it was '85 and he still had Maceo Parker and Fred Weslely in the band. It was definately Sunday night after the 100 club, what a great way to finish the weekend. RIP James. Cheers Paul- Amsterdam/record Shops
Try www.fingerpoppinsoul.nl where to buy records in Holland. Cheers Paul- Margie Joseph And 2 More
Aargh! Missed Margie Joseph on lovely vinyl at a good price. Feck, Shet and Billucks! Let me know if the sale falls through , please. Cheers Paul- Got Me Thinking -names In Songs And Such
Billy Paul on his version of "Compared To What" Going East LP- I Love It When
Nice one Dave, its from a CD released in 2004 "The Dana Owens Album" Richard Searling was playing "Hard Times" (originally by Dr Buzzards?) a lot in his show. Rest of the CDs pretty good too, all cover versions but with great backing and the girl can sing! Cheers Paul- Barbara Lewis in Charleroi
Barbara Lewis in Charleroi- Marlena Shaw
It's been wide awake with me for years Fluff!!! Is this turning into a Marlena thread? That could run and run. Cheers Paul- Marlena Shaw
- Marlena Shaw
Top album indeed Ken "good ears" Aitch, not really a bad track on there and still quite cheap comparitively speaking.Afraid I am rather biased when it comes to Marlena tho. The words "yellow pages and sing the she could" spring to mind. Cheers Paco- Philly Groove Records
Nice LP Maverick, love their version of "Be Thankful For What You've Got" also on there. Both the tracks you mention also came out on 45 too, "Nice Girl Like You" over here in Holland too in a most attractive picture sleeve and Germany but with a diferent picture. Neither of which are the topless version of the LP cover! Cheers Paul- Philly Groove Records
Don't think your memorys serving you very well on this one Maverick, I'm sure the Intruders did'nt record for Philly Groove. Would be happy to be proved wrong tho. Kent put out a couple of Philly Groove comps a few years ago. Deep and Deeper in the Philly Groove CDKEND 115 and167. Love the Finishing Touch track too, picked up a promo copy recently. Is yours a stock copy Lolmil? Would like to hear the B side if it is. Cheers Paul- Philly Groove Records
Go along with that and an awful lot of the First Choice tracks. Great label if you ask me- Bert Decoteaux
Yes Mel I agree. Chris, can"t thank you enough for putting that picture up Such a slight looking figure for such a huge talent! Cheers Paul- Bert Decoteaux
Great stuff eh Derek! I'll let John know later, can just picture him running down to the computer shop first thing tommorrow! Hope you got a good deal on your record. Cheers Paul- Bert Decoteaux
Wow keep "em coming mel please. Great stuff!- Bert Decoteaux
I do wish you'd pay attention Simon Cheers Paul- Bert Decoteaux
Nice one platters! Don't know those. You"re just showing off now mel Cheers Paul - James Brown Rip
