  1. Started doing some digging- I think I found a pretty interesting little box. Mind you I don't know what any of it sounds like- a few maybe of interest- eric mercury avco "everybody has/ You bring", fuller bros stranger/I want, (not a soul disc) Christine perfect close to me/id rather go blind. Just thought an update might be in order-m
  2. Sorry about not replying lately. We had a loss in the family. -m
  3. Thank you all so far. Pete- this is probably going to sound dumb... and do what with the video? Post them so anyone interested can view them for gems? Thanks again -m
  4. So here's the deal- my midlife crisis has prompted us to sell our house. To get ready for it- the sales agent had me empty my basement. My friend had rented a quite large warehouse, and sublet me an area about 40'x 60'. So I have basically filled that space with records. They are all genres. I think it's time for me to go through it all. Helpers haven't worked out. Short of looking up every disc- would any of you more experienced record folks share your strategies of eating this elephant. I'm not looking to dump it all. Judging from what I have found in the past-there's at least a strong potential of finding quite rare discs in it. Thanks again -Mark
  5. Hi everyone I think it has to do with who finds it. If your not a serious dealer-its easy to assume "its not worth anything" if you don't find anything on the net. I've talked to a few "record collectors" here in the states-most have never heard of northern soul. So unfortunately- I bet a fair amount of really rare stuff gets thrown out.-m
  6. Thanks again to all the great suggestions. I will follow up asap. To the couple of nice folks who sent me a pm- I will contact you as I have more focus on the 45s. Very appreciated-M
  7. Happy new year to everyone As I have gone through several cases of 45s , I find that there are discs that sell readily on ebay uk- but not so much here in the states. As in the $1-15 records. Would anyone have any ideas on selling these more readily? Thanks-Mark
  8. Hi Rich and David- your youtube one is exactly it. Thank you both-m
  9. Feeling lazy about a pic- the version I have looks like the older white label ones on popsike- mine has the same format but a tan backround. Anything special or common? Thanks!-mark
  10. Some soulie stuff starting in the next 6 hours. No grails- but maybe a few interesting discs- thanks-m

  15. Hi Mrs. WR- I move as fast as frozen molasses. Unfortunately
  16. I would probably be described as in between an occassional seller and a dealer. I don't know if you have the storage places in the same abundance as we do. As many folks don't have the space to store their stuff- they rent little rooms to put their stuff in. If you don't pay your bill- the storage place sells your unit to the highest bidder. The last load I bought ( 99% records) was a pretty solidly stacked (combined from 3 units ) 10'x15'x 4' tall. I have only looked at a small portion of the 45's. The lps that I kept, because they might be collectible; filled 50 13" cubed boxes. The 45s weren't culled. I maybe have 10,000 45's. Just a bit before that buy- a local junk/ antique store had bought a warehouse full of items. The records they received filled a room 8'x 8' x 6' high. As i looked at a handful of records before making a deal- I knew the majority of records wouldn't be collectible. The store was so full of other items- I knew they just needed to get rid of them. I culled about 20 cases of lps, 8 cases of unsorted 45s. So in 2 buys I bought 70 cases of lps, 10000 45s. The storage unit owner was a dealer in 45's. He passed away about 3 years before- the family put them in storage for 3 years until they stopped paying. The junk shop buy originally came from an old nyc anique dealer's warehouse. He was sick and sold his entire warehouse to the junk shop folks near me.
  17. I thought the other "s" word might be a bit much
  18. You used to tell me you loved my junk- now you tell me my junk is just....junk There are a few soul discs in the pile- thank you https://www.ebay.com/sch/elvisluvs/m.html?item=400789038588&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  19. I have a few things starting tonight- not sure if anything warrants a parade- thanks- Mark https://www.ebay.com/itm/400789038588?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  20. I'm guessing the following has been mentioned earlier in this thread. There's something perversely delightful about overpricing an item. I admit I have done it a few times, not to get anyone riled; sometimes a crazy price might just catch a watcher for when the price drops to a more reasonable level. Just my $10000000 and 2 cents
  21. A crazy thought for you. Over here, craigslist is the best way to quickly buy and sell stuff. It doesn't cost anything to put up a want ad. I would think an ad like "record collector paying cash for soul 45s" might get a response or two. Obviously you would want to be careful- meet in a public place, see if potential sellers can send you pictures, don't flash the cash in public. You could put your listing up before you arrive, and renew it after every 48 hours. Maybe a little too adventurous for a visit?
  22. Bobby Adams is Purdy.
  23. Thanks Dave- so rare is good, and junk is universal . That helps-thank ya...
  24. I recently bought a pretty large lot of records. Some nice, some beat, etc. Lets say a LOT. I look at the wants- but forget them immediately. So I would love some basics on what generally is wanted. I see little talk about lps. I'm handling some motown type stuff; typically it is in a poor condition jacket, with a somewhat worn, playable disc. Is this type of disc, in this type of condition, common in the UK and probably of little interest? I also have come across a few of the "various artist" lps from the 60s. Maybe a dot, a laurie, maybe a jewel. Any interest? As for the 45s; from the digging so far- 99% are U.S issued. Are there any really common US labels or groups that are scarce overseas? How poor condition would you consider on a disc you've been searching hi & lo for? Any input would be a big help (again) - thanks-m
