  1. Bet you've got one coming though Steve! Lol Jim
  2. There used to be a few around Joc, but obviously gathering dust now in people's cupboards mate
  3. I tend to agree with Chalky on this - its more like a boot when its been cut, recut, recut, recut etc. In saying that i must admit that I did play my copy (which came direct from Martin Coppell 22 years ago - see start of thread) a couple of times, but i felt this was acceptable due to the circumstances of it being only just discovered and was unplayed in the UK so exclusive IF i still had my original copy (which Ron Murphy cut), i would still feel comfortable playing it ONLY because of the circumstances that i got it under 22 years ago If i had never had it and just obtained one of the Cut "cuts", then i wouldnt dream of playing it hope this makes sense jim
  4. Pat Brady has a Sammy Campbell on his auction at the moment treat yourself!!!!
  5. is that the one from the LP Chalky, memory is not what it was mate
  6. Lets hope so Tony! Len, add Tony Smith to that list from earlier - (was due to be on the line up for Allanton before i pulled the plug - sorry Tony) great records, great taste and top bloke You owe me a pint at Truesoul now Tony!!!LOL best Jim
  7. Len yes dont forget Jock, and Rob Marriot (what a character) and Dean Anderson, Gaz Kellet, Dave Molloy, Ady Harly to name but a few you are righ, if you listen to some of the records played then, some people are only just catching up with some of these records - and that was 20 odd years ago great times and great music jim
  8. Russ i couldnt agree me with your comments - DJ's with bollocks and knowledge, and great people although i have not been to a nighter in a long time, judging by what i read in SS, there are very few of these types of DJ's on the scene, and even less off the characters i dont normally get nostalgic, and we must realise that things do change with time, but i really do hope this type of era/people/atmosphere comes back in some form so that some people may experience at least some of what i think were the absolute best days of the rare soul scene I know many will think that their own youth was aleays the best, but these days in the late 80's / early 90's without doubt had THE best mixture of people/music/characters/atmosphere/fun etc that i have ever experienced and i am extremely lucky to have experienced it Best Jim

  14. chalky I would totally agree with you on that one mate I'm 25 years older than I was then and I would still throw people out of the way to dance to what Butch was playing then Cant comment on what he is playing now, but I bet it is still the bloody business Personally, if it wasn't for those few years of going to hear Butch play those batch of tunes, I would have packed in a long long time ago Loved it then and would love to hear that type of set again Unsure if my legs would agree though !!! Jim
  15. before the days of internet etc. this is the type of record that you would travel for hours to hear butch play - along with countless other at the time (Diane Lewis c/u, g Davis and r Tyler c/u, mellow souls etc. etc. etc.) The type of record that you would just lose yourself in those brilliant couple of minutes In fact I remember on a few occasions pushing people out of the way to get to the dance floor to lose myself Great memories and a great fuckin record
