Need Everyones Help On Here, Particularly Italy
Hi Guys It looks like I may have been taken by a member on here for £4000 for several records, and I might not be the only one. His name is Diego Padovese, from Rome. Does anyone know this guy (any of you guys in Italy), does anyone have a phone number for him. If he is a straight up guy he would have resolved his issue with Paypal with my transaction and the others out standing. See current 'Paypal Sucks' tread. If anyone does know him, but doesn't want to hand out his phone number then get him to phone me 07971 141858 (00 44 7971 141858). I'm about a few hours away from getting on a plane very angry. Peace Dave

Vinyl Overload - 100 Newies Reviewed
Hi Pete As you stated at the beginning. the rarest/newest/latest discoveries. Tony and I were just saying that infact many had been around as big tunes for at least 10 years at the point you wrote that and so as such weren't new or latest. But still good reviews on the records and a great selection of records. Dave

Vinyl Overload - 100 Newies Reviewed
Hi Pete Same comment as Tony, Willie and the Mighty Mags big Stafford tune as was Honey and the Bees and both Ringleaders, plus a whole bunch more. So many of them by then had not only been well know for at least 10 years, but some big dance floor winners. Even if you had written this in 86, many of the tunes you reviewed had been filling floors for at least 2 years around the country.

Tk Labels And Fav Records
The Controllers is an odd one, as much of thier stuff was recorded at Malaco, although it was TK distributed. A lot of the material is owned by James Bennett of Jackson, Mississippi. Also wrote and recorded a lot of Tommy Tate's stuff at Malaco

Recomend Dj's
OK, feel a bit guilty now, should have done this earlier, but she's my wife to be. Malayka, has had great feedback from the set she's done in the UK so far. Has run a successful 6 weekly event, with Martin in Germany for 5 years. Also last year put on one of Europe's best weekenders, in Bamberg, just ask Butch and Sam. Plays Crossover thru to contempary sets, so new blood, should get more bookings. Dave

Along with Miami's, mighty 'Party Freaks' with the wonderful vocals of Robert Moore

Tk Labels And Fav Records
Always loved the Del Rays Inc-Destiation Unknown-Tampete, from the first time I heard Steve Smith play it at an early Yate. I'm sure this was a TK label, it's a Marlin production.

Buddy Conner-when Your Alone
Come to think of it I'm sure it's JJ Jackson on vocals on the WFB version

Buddy Conner-when Your Alone
When you alone - buddy conner - breakthrough 14205 refosoul Refosoul Rare and Northern Soul Clip library Originally a Richard Searling tune, then got a second lease of life thru myself and Guy at Stafford. Best version, although this and Worlds Funkiest Band are Joey Jefferson productions. WFB, was a group of young school kids out of Compton I think with, Forgotten name now, but a well known West Coast singer on vocals for this track

Want To Put An Idea By You Lot
Hi Pete Have to say agree with Ady, what you have put up as U-Tube stuff is great all can see it for free and your not making money from it. But if you do do it, stay well away from the Soul Train stuff, cuz they will sue as soon as look at you. Have been doing it in the US alot of late. Dave

Thursday Sounds - Big Money Records
But that's from the UK release, not that rare. Can't be an original, cuz they all crackle and hiss

Tk Labels And Fav Records
2 of my early great buys, when I was a young un. Found a Purple Mundi in a junk shop in Swindon and then played at Yate. Brand New got as a new release, but never played it out until Stafford

Not sure Karl about Rumpus, it's a great uptempo dancer, don't sound very rock influenced to me

Have had so much fun reading and contributing to the Philly International tread. This made me think about TK and all of Henry Stone's other labels. Although he started out in the 60's, his biggest output has to be about the same time as the Philly International label. Infact you could say apart from Motown, he was Philly's main indie competitor. So hard to find tunes from his stable and sound clips if you've got them. This compared to many other areas is a bit of a gap for me so, i'll read and listen with interest. Dave
