  1. Very sad news indeed. I've not seen her for many a year. My sincere condolences to her family. Phil
  2. I have it on Aussie Philips. Very nice looking thing it is too. And, as with all my records these days, available to a good home for a good price. Phil

I have a Carrolls on Polydor available. What's it go for? Phil
  4. 16 year olds should be doing their homework, revising for their GCSE's or learning Polish or Mandarin on a weekend. Never mind going to soul nights, all-niters & the like. I wouldn't have wanted to go out with my mum & dad, their mates or people their age when I was 16. Maybe there's room for a junior Northern Soul scene?
  5. Blimey. I sold this to a fellow sourcer a couple weeks ago for £125! I thought I'd done well at that. Phil
  6. Is it just me? But I don't understand the whole "carver" thing. If you don't have the original and just want to listen to the tune then what's wrong with having it on tape / CD/ mp3 etc etc? In fact what's wrong with playing MP3's at do's? Collecting I understand and have done a little bit of collecting myself. but in a club the punters just want to hera the sounds mostly. If this attituide were adopted then more proficient DJ's (ie people who know how to DJ properly and perhaps do it professionally) would rise to the top thereby giving a more entertaining night to the paying punter. Rather than (nowadays) people who can afford to buy the latest pseudo inflated "must have" rarity. Just my opinion. Phil
  7. You're not alone mate. I never understood the northern soul scene when I was on it, nor even particularly liked it much either. Always loved the music though. Phil

Yes, but it finishes tomorrow and then i get to eat a full, whole Muslim all to myself (after 7pm of course).

I have been advised it goes for a fair bit more than the tenner I thought it was worth. It's growing on me, but I'm still not convinced. I'll get back to you. Phil
  10. Great idea.!

Like I said earlier, some things never change i'm off to bed now. I'm sure there'll be another 100 posts on this topic by the time I get up. Phil

Of course. Now what was the topic?

Not something I would know about Baz. You? We have neither a reverend nor a choir in our church

Sounds like the Book of Ezekiel to me.

I have checked and it does have the track on the other side. Not too sure about it though. half of me quite likes it, the other half thinks it's rubbish. Phil

No. There'll be no mistaking it when that happens. I'm just expressing my opinion as to how I felt JT could have handled things a little better. I do understand the other points of view too thought. If it (someone removing a record I was playing) had happened to me before I became a christian then I would have made my feelings known, shall we say, very enthusiastically. Phil

I used to be the same but now I'm of the "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you," persuasion. It's quite a refreshing stance to take. That said I think it would have been difficult for me to put James in my prayers that night had he done it to me. Phil

Then I have spare of this. Turquoisey label. I'll dig it out. Phil

The thing that James should have actually done (only IMO), is ask him if he wouldn't mind stopping the record because the quality sounded none too good. And then given him his orginal acetate to play. That's what I would have done. And, as a bonus, if he needed to get the crowd warmed up to him he could have asked said DJ to say "this track courtesy of James Trouble, who'll be on later". Phil

What's the other side of it? Cheers Phil

I feel like I've gone through a 30 year timewarp. But I'm still a fat get and my hair's not grown back. This is a debate (originals / bootlegs) that will rage as long as people remember what a record is. I don't know either of the the people involved but it does sound like someone's trying to wind someone up big time. Phil
  22. Have a good time, and don't be listening to no choons what ain't on the "list" PC Dick
  23. Whatever you want it to. It's magic.
  24. Yeah. But you're older than me and you have a chicken for an avatar so your reply doesn't count PC Dick of the Soul Police
