  1. I've just had someone ask me about the size of the active regions/sunspots on show at the moment and the Sun itself in relation to the Earth. So I knocked this up using today's photo as a rough idea of the scale of these things for those not in the know ...
  2. Be careful what you wish for though , an event matching "The Carrington Event" in 1859 could easily severely damage power networks on Earth and easily render satellites inoperable thus sending us back to the joyous pre-internet days of simple living ...
  3. No more no less , it's over a year now since we saw the great show that was visible to the eye at low latitude in the UK , that was my first sight of the aurora here or anywhere in sixty-odd years. The data side has improved exponentially over the years , but at the end of the day it depends on what occurs on the enormous fusion reactor 93 million miles away , if the outburst is strong enough , of the right type , is facing in the right direction , at the right time , reacts favourably with Earth's magnetic field , at the right time of day and when we have clear skies then we see the aurora , if just one of these parameters is off then we don't ...
  4. Well it appears to me that thanks to its intense but narrow front and its speeds exceeding 1000km/hr this eagerly awaited CME has washed over us largely unnoticed thanks to its timing. Better luck next time ...
  5. Really ... ? Billy ShaRae has the same backing as September Jones - I'm Coming Home ...
  6. Someone in a YT comment reckons it's the same as "Billy ShaRae - Do It" though I can't hear a similarity myself.
  7. Very strong solar storm (G4 !) predicted to arrive tomorrow. Sadly it looks like being a daytime arrival for those of us in the UK and Europe but it might well last until it's dark here. Fingers crossed for all my friends in more favourable locations , here's hoping you get a great show and that we might catch the tail end of any display. The video shows the cause of all the fuss. 8. Just found where Chinny was headed ...
  9. Tim's on here so you can PM him ... https://www.soul-source.co.uk/profile/8687-colouredman/
  10. I was referring to the "All of a sudden" track mentioned , sorry for the confusion regarding the IYP bit ...
  11. Too kind sir , whilst there are a few individuals left on here that have encyclopaedic knowledge of these things I just have an internet connection and access to a great thing called Google. It's in fact Soul Source's own extensive archives and sites like Discogs and similar like 45Cat that have all the relevant information ...
  12. All of a Sudden's on an Italian release. https://www.discogs.com/release/5429888-Skull-Snaps-My-Hang-Up-Is-You
  13. Skullsnaps has a 45 release.
  14. Harvey has a 7" 45.
  15. Nowt there on my laptop view.
  16. I noticed that'd gone too but thought I'd done enough whingeing for one week , thanks for raising it ...
  17. They both have a legit UK 45 release ...
  18. You're a darling , thank you ...
  19. Please ignore me Mike , when I hovered and the blank box appeared my avatar was near the bottom of the page so the details beneath the box were hidden until I scrolled down ... P.S. It would be nice to see the emoji list reversed as it's a mini ballache scrolling right through the stuff nobody uses to get to the 'nice' smileys which are right at the bottom ...
  20. Today's breakfast sortie from Mr Milvus. Remembered to take camera up with me today and caught him circling the pile of squirrels I left as a buffet. He seemed ready to pick one when an enormous noisy bird arrived from behind the trees and had us both ducking for cover , the second 'critter' was shot at only 230mm focal length (uncropped photos) to give you an idea of how low and close he was ... And someone just pointed out to me a one in a million shot with the second bird , fifth photo of him has his "wings" in perfectly aligned for and aft ... !!! Just done a rough calculation given the Chinook's dimensions and the APS-C/lens FL combination , in the fourth/closest photo he's about 340 feet from me ... !!! And the unexpected intruder .... !
  21. Just noticed one little thing that's gone missing , before when you wanted to find your own 'Content' you would just hover the cursor over your user avatar top right and the options would drop down with a 'Find my content' box therein , you now have to click on the avatar to get the drop-down and the Find Content option is no longer there. It's no great hassle but you now have to open your profile and hunt around that way but the previous set-up was nicer , has it gone forever ? And similarly if you hover over your avatar on the left in the activity feed there is just a blank grey box appears , but nothing in the box regarding content etc.
  22. You could always try reading the answers to the exact same question you asked on here in 2017 , the one that got 80-odd replies ...
  23. Very sad to hear , still it's your playground so your rules I guess. Have fun with the infernal mess the 'upgrade's created , you're obviously happy with it which is all that matters I guess , it's been fun but ....
  24. I'm assuming we're stuck with this dreadful font and its terrible spacing forever now ? It's really doing my head in to read , what was wrong with the existing font that meant it needed "upgrading" (and also shrinking) in such an awful way ?
