Your Favourite Modern Soul Choons ?
I only discovered the existence of this thread yesterday after it was resurrected and then spent a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours in a pc loop listening, reading and thinking about which tunes I could add. None of that bumpy thumpy music ( which I love to bits) here as I went way back in time for this one. Right then here we go... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3UOCklhauk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reDQ73T3Wz0 More to follow when I have time to post em

K-Collective? I was getting mixed up with the history...they originally used Brother International then BNH came about after they signed their first recording contract...methinks

Best Soul Single By A British Artist?
Brother International? I too have seen BNH live...at Southport...when Nichole Russo was with them...but N'Dea Davenport was much better than her vocally...and I may also have seen them after that when N'Dea Davenport returned to the group but I can't recall...all a blur!

First Northern Soul Record
Hi Lorna Memories eh...except mine are a little hazy...I remember earning £4 from my Saturday job and that used to fund my Wigan jaunt that night...if I had to pay my train fare that covered it but I had a free pass for the trains as my da worked on the railway so generally I didn't have to pay...then money in, however much that was and 20 fags...if I didn't need to pay train fare I came back with money in my pocket but if I had to then my pockets were empty. Didn't do "naughty things" thank God cos no money for them then! I didn't drink so that's probably why I don't remember how much alcohol cost back in the day God I would never have dared go out with 50p cos I was far too coy to blag hitch or cadge. That Purple Haze track was the only one I had on 7" so no clue as to the elusive third track I'm afraid. PM for you hun

Best Soul Single By A British Artist?
And that one reminds me of a claim to fame of mine...Mr Battin in the frame again...I was personally introduced to Mr Thomas at Fleetwood Weekender...that time when...ahem...Mr Battin was appointed as his personal chaperone...and lets just say he didn't ultimately chaperone him very well...or possibly far too well...cos Mr Thomas was on site a hell of a lot longer than he should have been Anyway back to my "short and sweet" tale...it was about the only time in my life when I was lost for words...a bigshot promoter came over and interrupted (well not really as Mr T was the only one talking) and said it was time to go for Mr T as he was not insured after leaving the stage (think he did a PA or a fuller performance) and Mr T politely told him it wasn't gonna happen and it most certainly didn't Must now give some thought to the thread topic

We Can Work It Out
Oh and another thing, I don't have the luxury of being able to get out socialising very often and when I do I'm far too busy enjoying myself and valuing my free time that I don't have time to moan...can never understand why folks go to or stay at a do when they don't like what they hear...they've always got the choice of going elsewhere, or even home, after all And there's always another option...switching off in one's head and turning the focus to chatting to others, thereby avoidng the need to moan
-
We Can Work It Out
Well not their own obviously Some folks are born moaners...they just like the sounds of their own voices
